5 Steps to get a job in the United Nations

Mission and objectivesEnabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet) โ€” formerly Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA) โ€” is a women-centred, community-based organization founded in 2001 in Northern Uganda. ERONet works with rural and post-conflict communities to empower women, girls, youth, and persons with disabilities through education, health, WASH, livelihoods, gender equality, and disaster risk reduction initiatives. Following the expansion of its geographic scope and mandate, the organization transitioned from ACDA to ERONet. While the new name is widely recognized online and by partners, local communities and district stakeholders are still more familiar with the former name. This assignment supports a structured, transparent communication of this transition to ensure continuity, trust, and legitimacy at community level.

ContextThis assignment contributes directly to ERONetโ€™s organizational development, local accountability, and stakeholder engagement objectives. ERONet has recently entered into formal coordination arrangements with district authorities under its new name and is preparing to implement upcoming community-based projects. Clear communication materials are essential to: Prevent confusion or mistrust at community level. Reinforce institutional continuity. Support alignment between district-level recognition and grassroots awareness. The volunteerโ€™s contribution will support ethical localization practices and strengthen community trust in development programming.

Task DescriptionThe Online Volunteer will support ERONet to develop clear, community-appropriate visual communication materials explaining the organizationโ€™s transition from Agoro Community Development Association (ACDA) to Enabling Rural Opportunity Network (ERONet). Specifically, the volunteer will: Review background materials provided by ERONet (organizational profile, strategic plan excerpts, draft flyer text, and guidance notes). Design one primary A4 community information flyer (print-friendly) that: Clearly explains the name change and continuity of the organization. Uses simple language suitable for local leaders and communities. Incorporates guidance on appropriate photo placement. Optionally develop one simplified infographic or poster version for notice boards or community meetings. Work remotely with ERONet staff through email and/or virtual check-ins. Share draft versions for feedback and incorporate revisions. Deliver final editable files (PDF + source file, e.g. Canva or InDesign). Live meetings are mandatory, but periodic email or messaging updates will be expected.
