Mission and objectivesUNFPA GCC office in Muscat-Oman, was established in 2006 and provides Technical Assistance in the main areas of Population and Development, Reproductive Health and Rights, Youth Development, and Gender Equality. UNFPA expands the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. Since UNFPA inception in 1969, the number - and rate - of women dying from complications of pregnancy or childbirth has been halved. Young people are more connected and empowered than ever before. UNFPA GCC works with several strategic partners in Oman, Kuwait, KSA, UAE, Bahrain and Qatar, ranging from government entities, civil society actors, academic institutions and youth-led groups. The co-operation modules are diversified, including Trust Fund agreements, Memorandum of Understandings, or limited term project agreements. The UNFPA GCC Sub-regional Office provides technical expertise and coordinates the efforts of GCC governments in the areas of population & development, youth, reproductive health, gender equality, statistics and related issues.
ContextThis Online Volunteers assignment is part of UNFPA GCC’s efforts to enhance the presentation and communication of its mandate-related information, as well as programme-related achievements in the GCC region. The Data Visualization Online Volunteer will be responsible for developing user-friendly data visualization for the 2024 Annual Report. Thus, the Data Visualisation Online Volunteer will work closely with the Programme team and the Graphic Designer to ensure that the communication material is an appealing and informative document.
Task DescriptionThe Online Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: -Develop visually appealing graphic elements from raw data and statistics, including infographics, charts, and other data visualizations, to effectively communicate key data and achievements for the GCC publication. -Contribute data visualisation (including charts and graphics) for the 2024 office annual report to ensure information display is designed to be accessible and user-friendly in both English and Arabic. -Proactively engage with the programme team to gather GCC data relevant to UNFPA's mandate, and develop user-friendly data visualizations tailored for diverse audiences, including decision-makers, youth, women, etc. Final Deliverble: developed a user-friendly data visualization for the 2024 Annual Report.
