About this position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join the Office of the Secretary in a pivotal role. This individual will collaborate closely with the Secretary and Deputy Secretary and play a crucial role in interpreting and applying regulations pertinent to the Board of Governors and Board of Directors.

You will work in the Front Office as part of the Office of the Secretary. This team is responsible for providing secretariat services to the Boards of Governors and the Boards of Executive Directors of IDB and IDB Invest, as well as to the Donors Committee of IDB Lab. The Office of the Secretary also coordinates meetings of the IDB Group’s Management committees as determined by the President. Moreover, the Office coordinates the implementation of the Access to Information Policy and provides language and documentation services to the Boards and Management.

What you’ll do

  • Provide necessary assistance and services to the Board of Executives Directors, addressing their queries and consultations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support in organizing the Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors, along with meetings involving Governors from both non-regional and regional member countries.
  • Prepare and draft documents and communications as requested by the Secretary and/or Deputy Secretary, ensuring they are clear, accurate, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Serve as back-up to review/monitor the election/designation of members of the Boards of Executive Directors, and appointments of new Governors.
  • Work with the Front Office in addressing inquiries and consultations from the Office of the President and Senior Management.
  • Coordinate the preparation and delivery of communications to Directors and Governors, consolidating inputs from internal teams and ensuring timely, accurate distribution.
  • Process documents via the D2S system for translation and for distribution to the Board of Executive Directors, Governors, and Management.
  • Monitor the SEC website and make sure relevant information is up to date and accurate.
  • Coordinate with SEC sections and teams to compile briefings, talking points, presentations, and relevant information as needed by the Secretary and Deputy Secretary.
  • Organize information exchanges on governance functions and procedures with Secretariats of other international financial institutions, at the request of the Secretary or Deputy Secretary.
  • Prepare accurate, consistent reports, briefings, and presentations for the Secretary to submit to the Executive Board, Bank President, or Senior management committees, ensuring they meet institutional standards.

    What you'll need

    • Education: Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Law, Finance, International Affairs.

    • Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in Secretariat services in multilateral organizations.

    • Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

    • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
