    Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
    The position of Copyediting Officer is assigned to the Information Access Unit (IAU) in the Office of the Secretary (SEC). IAU oversees editing of Board documents, Board document management, information classification, and public disclosure. SEC provides strategic and operational support to ADB, the Board of Governors, and the Board of Directors. You will be based at our headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

    You will report to the Principal Editor.

    Your Role
    As Copyediting Officer, you will provide technical guidance and support to the IAU editing team. You will ensure that documents circulated to the Board of Directors conform to ADB's policies and procedures and international standards, collaborate with other departments to help develop and maintain Board document templates, and provide guidance to staff on editing and Board document preparation.

    You will

  • Copyedit Board documents (i.e., correct errors in spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, numbered lists, table of contents, and table and figure numbers; ensure correctness and consistency of numbers, abbreviations, gender neutrality, logic and clarity, word usage and choice, and format; and monitor compliance with Board document templates, ADB policies and procedures, the Handbook of Style and Usage (HSU), and international standards). Resolve sensitive issues or elevate them to International Staff editors, as needed.
Work with the Strategy, Policy, and Partnerships Department and other key departments and offices in reviewing and updating Board document templates to reflect changes in ADB policies and procedures and ensure correct interpretation. Ensure user-friendly presentation of guidelines and templates for preparing Board documents on the SEC intranet site. Provide guidance to internal clients on the HSU and the application of template requirements. Respond to queries from internal clients on implementing editors' instructions. Develop and maintain the IAU pages on the SEC website. Support International Staff editors in monitoring the work of consultant editors. Work with international editors in building staff capacity on Board document preparation, including participating in workshops. Support the department's knowledge management activities and other projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

You will need:

Bachelor's degree in communications, or related fields. At least 8 years of relevant professional experience. Demonstrated client orientation; sensitized to working in a diverse and multicultural environment. A high degree of integrity in handling confidential matters. Proficient in standard software programs used in multilateral organizations. Work collaboratively with teams as a constructive team member and coordinate across teams. Additional Information
This appointment is open to internal and external applicants.

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may, at the option of ADB, be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staff’s particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staff’s performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
