Mission and objectivesThe United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) operates in around 170 countries, focusing on eradicating poverty and reducing inequality and exclusion. It supports countries in developing policies, enhancing leadership and partnership skills, and building institutional capacities to foster sustainable development. UNDP implements various projects, providing technical, operational, and management assistance through methodologies, specialized knowledge, and a broad international network of cooperation. In Brazil, UNDP aligns its services with the countryโs dynamic needs, collaborating with the government, international financial institutions, the private sector, and civil society to promote human development and poverty reduction. As countries face interconnected challenges such as economic stagnation and environmental crises, UNDP aims to create integrated responses to these issues and serves as a catalyst for collective action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its services include eligibility assessments, project formulation and implementation, capacity development, policy advice, advocacy, technical assistance, training, and knowledge management. The UNDP Country Office in Brazil partners with public and private institutions and civil society to foster a more sustainable and inclusive society by enhancing governance, reducing poverty and inequality, and addressing climate change and biodiversity. Its program portfolio consists of three interrelated work streams: โข Inclusive Socio-economic Development: Focused on poverty reduction, social policies, public-private partnerships, and inclusive markets. โข Environmentally Sustainable Development: Emphasizing nature-based solutions, climate change, energy efficiency, and sustainable production. โข Governance and Justice for Development: Concentrating on violence prevention, justice, transparency, anti-corruption, human rights, and local capacity development.
ContextContext To strengthen Brazilโs capacity to both as COP30 president and actively participate in negotiations, the \"Project BRA/24/007\" was developed. This project will mobilize partnerships and foster social participation to generate technical, logistical, and substantive inputs, not only for the COP30 presidency (2024-2026) but also for the Brazilian negotiating delegation at COPs 29, 30, and 31, as well as intersessional meetings and pre-COPs. The project highlights the urgency of stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations to prevent dangerous human-induced interference with the climate system. In response to this challenge, incoming Brazilian presidency objective is to organize a โturning point COPโ aiming to keep the goal of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5ยฐC within reach, an effort known as \"Mission 1.5\". The project is structured around four key components: i. Establishment and implementation of a project management, knowledge, and communication strategy; ii. Provision of technical and substantive support to the Brazilian negotiating delegation at COPs 29, 30, and 31, as well as during intersessional and pre-COP meetings; iii. Provision of technical, logistical, and substantive support to the COP30 Presidency from 2024 to 2026; iv. Efficient project management. As part of its communication and outreach strategy, the project seeks to ensure that key materials and messages are accessible to a global audience. This includes translating materials from English and/or Portuguese into the six official UN languages, with a focus on French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, and Russian.
Task Descriptionโข Check IA translated written content (e.g., summaries, reports, press releases, social media posts) from English and/or Portuguese into one or more of the following languages: French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, or Russian. โข Ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with UN terminology and tone. โข Collaborate with other volunteers and project staff to ensure consistency and quality across translations. โข Provide feedback on linguistic or cultural nuances that may affect communication effectiveness to train the projects IA tool.
