About this position
Are you an experienced e-learning professional passionate about creating engaging and impactful online learning experiences for capacity building?
We are seeking an experienced e-learning project manager to coordinate the design and development of capacity-building training to be delivered as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in collaboration with IDBโs sectoral specialists. A key part of your role will be to ensure that all educational initiatives contribute to IDBโs overarching goals.
You will work at the Inter-American Institute for Economic and Social Development (INDES), which is an integral part of the Knowledge and Learning Division, (KLD) within the Vice Presidency for Sectors and Knowledge (VPS) of the IDB. This team's mission is to empower individuals through knowledge and learning tools and enhance capacity building within the regions we serve. We focus on increasing knowledge and strengthening the skills of target audiences in Latin America and the Caribbean, including IDB employees, to address the regionโs vulnerabilities and unlock its potential to foster transformative social and economic development.
What youโll do
- Coordinate the end-to-end MOOC development process, from initial conceptualization tailored to sector-specific needs to course deployment, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of strengthening capacity for external IDB stakeholders.
- Work closely with IDB specialists to design learning experiences, utilizing adult learning theories and cutting-edge e-learning technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence and digital accessibility, to ensure courses effectively address the region's most pressing development challenges.
- Facilitate workshops and brainstorming sessions with subject matter experts to foster a multidisciplinary approach in learning needs assessment and course content design, ensuring relevance and alignment with the IDBโs institutional strategies.
- Support the development and implementation of mechanisms to measure the effectiveness and impact of the MOOCs, using both qualitative and quantitative methods, to guide continuous improvement and ensure alignment with broader institutional goals and KPIs.
- Review the quality of all e-learning product deliverables according to established standards. Propose and implement innovative solutions that enhance learning experiences and contribute to the bankโs goals.
- Support the financial and procurement responsibilities related to MOOCs' development cycle, such as overseeing financial management, resource allocation for production, deliverable quality, and supervising external consultants to ensure efficient execution.
- Contribute to the systematic improvement of business processes and quality standards for course development and production.
- Support the coordination of specialized editions of MOOCs as SPOCs for governments.
- Support the coordination of the Coursera scholarship program, co-funded with IDB's country offices, ensuring these editions address specific sectoral topics for diverse audiences and are effective delivery.
- Support activities that strengthen and improve learning products within the Knowledge and Learning Division (KLD), with particular emphasis on open education and e-learning approaches
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy, Knowledge Management, Social Sciences, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Psychology, or a related field. It is a plus to hold a certification in e-learning or lifelong learning.
- Experience: At least 2 years of proven experience in knowledge and learning management, specifically in developing online courses focused on social and economic topics.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
