Result of ServiceSuccessful completion of the International Workshop on Quality Infrastructure Development to be held in Tokyo, Japan on 25-27 February 2026 -- positive feedback from participants and the project donor Work LocationHome based Expected duration1 month Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) of the Division for Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DSDG/UN DESA) is mandated to promote sustainable regional development in developing countries with a focus on development planning and management in the context of globalization and decentralization trends, and the growing concern towards global environmental issues and their impacts. UNCRD will be organizing the International Workshop on Quality Infrastructure Development with the theme of โFuture of Quality Road Infrastructure: Envisioning Introduction of Advanced Technologies for Developing Sustainable and Resilient Road Network under the Era of Climate Change and Agingโ in collaboration with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), Government of Japan, from 25 to 27 February 2026 at the United Nations University, Tokyo, Japan. The primary objective of this international workshop is to improve capacity of senior national government officials with advanced knowledge, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative approaches for building sustainable and resilient road networks that capable of withstanding climate-related impacts. The workshop will emphasize capacity building, skills development, and technology transfer to integrate advanced digital tools, innovative materials, and green technologies into future projects. Through presentations of best practices, case studies, and real-world examples of smart infrastructure, resilient materials, and nature-positive green roads, the workshop will offer participants a collaborative platform to exchange knowledge and explore practical solutions to enrich their learning experience. To achieve this, the engagement of an international consultant is essential to bring specialized expertise, facilitate impactful discussions, and ensure the effective delivery of programme contents. The consultant will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities: 1) Workshop Preparation and Moderation - Provide substantive support, including presentation, participation, and facilitation during the International Workshop on Quality Road Infrastructure Development. - Participate in preparatory meetings either physically or online. - Participate and moderate all sessions of the workshop to ensure smooth and effective facilitation of discussions and knowledge-sharing. 2) Documentation and Reporting - Prepare a comprehensive summary report covering the workshop, documenting key discussions, outcomes, and recommendations from the workshop. Qualifications/special skills(1) A Masterโs degree in science, engineering, or a related field. (2) A minimum of 10 yearsโ experience in project implementation, management, and reporting, particularly in the areas of road and infrastructure development, and environmentally sustainable and resilient transportation systems (3) Proven expertise in moderating international workshops and facilitating discussions LanguagesSkills and experiences in writing and reporting in English are essential for the post.
