The Office in Asia (ORP/ASI) is looking for a dynamic and resourceful young talent to join the team to support strengthening and enhancing the IDB Groupโs strategic partnerships and resource mobilization activities in Asia.
Established in 1959, the Inter-American Development Bank (โIDBโ or โBankโ) is the main source of financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing countries.
Emerging economies must fill a US$2.5 trillion financing gap to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Because the international public sector cannot fill this gap alone, partnerships are essential to financing the 2030 Agenda. Office of Outreach and Partnerships (ORP) is dedicated to supporting the IDB Groupโs efforts in achieving this goal by significantly expanding its capacity to serve LAC through added financing, knowledge, and innovation. Through our offices in Asia and Europe, together with IDBโs Headquarter in Washington DC, United States, we work with governments, companies, academia, foundations, and others to forge and maintain partnerships that can fill this gap and advance the SDGs ensuring full alignment with the strategic priorities outlined in the IDBG Institutional Strategy.
About this position:
The Office in Asia (ASI)โs key functional areas include strategic engagement, partnership building and mobilization of financial/non-financial resources and knowledge with existing and potential partners from both private and public sectors in Asia to facilitate IDB Groupโs activities through close coordination with relevant operational units.
You will work with ORP consists of the Resource Mobilization Division (REM); the Grants and Co-financing Management Unit (GCM); both located in Washington D.C., and the Offices in Asia (ASI) in Tokyo and in Europe (EUR) in Madrid. We work closely with the IDB Groupโs operational units, IDB Lab and IDB Invest to mobilize resources, formalize, and enhance collaborations, and create and share knowledge about partnerships responding to the evolving landscape of resource mobilization towards the SDGs.
What youโll do:
The consultant will perform a wide range of business support functions of a highly responsible nature to facilitate ASIโs activities, through the following two areas โ partnerships and outreach activities, and resource administration and management by results.
Further detailed activities will include but not limited:
Provide support for coordination including the preparation of agenda and logistical planning of a wide variety of activities, including forum, conferences, missions, meetings, seminars, online and in-print publications, among others. Provide support for preparation of internal and external reports on the IDB groupโs activities and economic and social situation of both regions. Conduct data gathering to support analysis of partnership opportunities and landscaping of potential resource mobilization and partnership opportunities to facilitate IDB Groupโs mandate and priorities. Perform mapping and landscaping exercises of potential partners and other stakeholders in member countries in Asia. Support to maintain and update databases (in-house databases and ORPโs CRM databases) in a systematic manner. Assist in managing the office's administrative budget, including routine accounting tasks like handling petty cash, purchase orders, and end-of-year accrual reports, as well as supporting general office management, liaising with local suppliers, and maintaining office supplies inventory. Facilitate travel arrangements for staff, in accordance with the Bank's policies, and provide overall administrative support to enhance office efficiency. Other duties as assignedWhat you'll need:
Education: A minimum of a bachelorโs degree or equivalent in relevant areas such as: Business Administration, Finance, International Development, Economics, or other related fields. Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.o Candidates should possess a clear understanding of operational work, sector knowledge in international development, and Resource Management. Experience in the Latin American and Caribbean region is preferable,
o Relevant professional experience in the areas including but not limited to: partnership/mobilization, sustainability, institutional capacity analysis, urban economics, structuring credit assessment and/or rating of loans, guarantees, structured finance and/or debt capital markets, and administration and resource management, as well as knowledge or familiarity in the IDB Groupโs priorities and activities especially its partnerships and resource mobilization are most desirable.

โข Familiarity in the CRM application would be desirable.

โข Citizenship: You are either a citizen of Japan or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Japan.
โข Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
