The Digital Transformation Program (DTP) within the ITE Department is responsible for coordinating the digital transformation of the IDB, a process of evolution that opens the opportunity to be more efficient and relevant by placing the needs of our clients at the center of the conversation, becoming more agile, and optimizing the use of data and digital technologies.
About this position
We are seeking a design consultant who will work alongside digital transformation teams from a UX/UI perspective with a user-centered focus.
You will work within the Digital Transformation Program, which is part of the ITE department. This team is responsible for guiding the digital transformation of the IDB.
What youโll do
- Support digital transformation teams in product design, collaborating with other designers to improve their work and that of the entire team.
- Work through design problems from beginning to end, translating research and analysis ideas into concepts that form new disruptive products and services, and designing detailed workflows and interactions necessary to make them a reality.
- Sketch and create prototypes of ideas to quickly evaluate their viability and design the details of components, interactions, and transitions.
- Conduct in-depth research to understand user needs, behaviors, and preferences.
- Develop comprehensive customer journey maps to visualize and understand the experience, identifying pain points and improvement opportunities in the customer journey.
- Develop process flow diagrams to illustrate user interactions, task flows, and system processes.
- Work closely with the research team.
- Write, present, and share what you are learning.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelorโs degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Social Sciences, Strategic Design, Design for Social Innovation, Service Design, Social Sciences, Engineering, Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or equivalent discipline, Human-Centered Design/Design Thinking/Design Management, User Experience, Innovation Design/Product Design., or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: Between 2 and 3 years of progressive experience in UX.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
Key skills
- Have helped create products that solve real problems and that people use.
- Knowledge of the entire product development process, from problem-solving and system modeling to detailed design of user interfaces, visuals, and interactions.
- Ability to design polished and high-fidelity mockups of your solutions using modern design tools like Figma and Sketch.
- Ability to create interactive prototypes using tools such as Figma, Framer, Invision, and Keynote, or in the browser with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong communication skills to help people across the company understand the fundamentals of your proposals and the complex nuances of design problems.
- Motivated and entrepreneurial person capable of collaborating closely with other disciplines with research and analysis.
- Growth mindset. Willingness to tackle problems. Comfort with uncertainty. Desire to improve things. A balanced sense of optimism and humility.
- Autonomy and responsibility to meet objectives.
- 5 years of industry experience.
Requirements
- Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
- Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
- Type of contract: International Consultant Full-Time.
- Length of contract: 12 months. Contract may be extended up to 36 months based on business requirements and consultant's performance.
- Work Location: On site.
