Space Programme Section (SPC), Earth Systems and Data Predictions Department (ESDP) WMO is committed to achieving diversity and a balanced workforce. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
I. Support the revision of space-related content in WIGOS documentation (aligned with the WIGOS Vision):
- Contribute to the finalization of the revision of the space-based component of the WIGOS Vision 2040.
II. Preparation and delivery of CM-16, including follow-up activities:
- Coordinate the technical aspects of the Sixteenth Session of the WMO Consultative Meetings on High-Level Satellite Matters (CM-16) to be held on 3-4 March 2026.
- Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and background documents to support discussions on satellite-related priorities and strategies.
- Document meeting outcomes, including decisions, action items, and recommendations, ensuring clarity and traceability.
- Develop a post-meeting action plan and monitor progress on tasks arising from CM-16, liaising with relevant stakeholders for timely implementation.
- Provide technical support during the meeting, including addressing queries and facilitating discussions.
III. Support to DBNet-related activities:
- Contribute to DBNet and other relevant meetings.
- Follow up on actions from previous DBNet meetings.
- Assist DBNet station operators in the transition to new DBNet services.
- Contribute to improving the discoverability of satellite data through WIS.
- Liaise with GODEX-NWP to ensure coordination with WMO activities.
- Support the revision of the DBNet Guide.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Master's degree or Equivalent in meteorology, oceanography, earth, physical or natural sciences, or closely related fields.
Experience
10 years of experience in Space Agency activities, international collaboration in the context of CEOS and/or CGMS, and WMO Space Programme activities.
Other requirements
Space based observing systems, satellite operations, ground-station operation, data exchange
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.) Band C: 390.00 - 560.00 USD per day depending upon experience, knowledge and skills. Additional Information:
