DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

WCRP aims to provide an authoritative review paper that will systematically assess our understanding of threshold breaching, irreversibility, and tipping in the climate system. The paper will also provide key recommendations for how Earth systems models can be improved to better understand these processes and identify potential early warnings. This review paper will contribute to the seventh assessment report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and we are working actively with IPCC as these topics will be important across IPCC working groups (particularly WGI Chapter 8, \"Abrupt changes, low-likelihood high impact events and critical thresholds, including tipping points, in the Earth system.\" Consensus building and a solid knowledge base will be important contributions to the IPCC process.

ACCOUNT ABILITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Project management of the High-impact climate events, tipping points, and irreversible regional impacts assessment;
2. Data analyses and drafting of figures as required by the project;
3. Facilitation of the early stages of the writing process of the assessment paper;
4. Support the scheduling and delivery of meetings or workshops, as required (online and potentially in person, if required);
5. Maintain a project webpage and disseminate information on the project to stakeholders and the WCRP community, as needed;
6. Carry out other work of a similar nature as required.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

1. Up to date list of project scientists involved in the assessment, with affiliation and contact details;
2. Dedicated project file space (shared with all project scientists);
3. Meetings scheduled and hosted, with notes taken and made available to all project scientists in the dedicated file space;
4. Meeting report of any workshops, if applicable;
5. Project webpage;
6. Timely communication on project progress and outcomes;
7. Draft of assessment paper (online version).
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Education: PhD in a related field preferred.
Experience
- Experience of working in an international organization and project management experience preferred.
- Data analysis experience required.
- Project management experience required.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
