DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the Global Greenhouse Gas Watch (G3W) Team and in collaboration with the Infrastructure (I) Department and the Global Atmospheric Watch (GAW), and reporting to WMO Secretariat, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
- Provide advice on the G3W governance formation and activities and review the progress on governance actions (GOV1 and GOV2) formulated in the G3W Implementation Plan, reporting to both the WMO Secretariat and the G3W Coordination bodies.
- Provide advice on the G3W partnerships with other relevant institutions and activities outside of WMO and ensure stewardship on the ways to expand or enhance partnerships with those institutions or bodies.
- Carry out high-level positioning and outreach activities in support to the WMO Secretariat at the appropriate Global Fora.
- Undertake the necessary travel to WMO Headquarters or to relevant meetings when required.
- Deliver, upon completion of the contract, the summary of progress evaluation and the recommendations for actions. QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Ph.D. or equivalent in meteorology, oceanography, earth, physical or natural sciences, or a closely related field.
Experience
A minimum of 15 years' work experience in managing, scientific and technological careers such as Climate Action sizeable budgets, procurement, strategic development, and liaison with public and private partners will be an advantage. Previous managerial experience and proof of leadership skills are essential.
Other requirements
Extensive experience in developing and coordinating Global Climate and/or Environmental related systems. Compelling communication and capacity to build partnership. Resource mobilisation experience will be an asset.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English and French (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.) The Secretary-General may appoint a candidate at a grade below the advertised grade of the post, with the possibility of promotion to that grade within three years of appointment, subject to satisfactory appraisal of performance. Possibility of renewal extension based on WMO-G3W priorities. Additional Information:
SALARY: 750$ net of tax per day.
