Where you come in:

The Community Mobilizer will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of Save the Childrenโ€™s integrated Health and Nutrition project in Vanuatu. The project aims to reduce undernutrition and WASH-related health issues among children aged 0โ€“5 years.

This role will primarily focus on community engagement, capacity building, and coordination at the local level to ensure successful delivery of project interventions. The Community Mobilizer will work closely with community members, volunteers, and partners to drive positive change across key components, including community-led nutrition rehabilitation using the Positive Deviance/Hearth (PD/Hearth) approach, improving food security through market-based solutions and food preservation techniques, strengthening climate-resilient WASH systems in target communities, and promoting healthy child-rearing and hygiene practices through social and behaviour change communication (SBCC).

The Community Mobilizer reports directly to the Helti Pikinini, Helti Komuniti Project Manager.

You will make an impact by:

Community Engagement and Mobilization

Lead community entry, dialogue, and mobilization of local leaders, caregivers, and volunteers to support project activities.

Program Implementation Support

Facilitate and support delivery of PD/Hearth sessions, hygiene promotion, cooking demonstrations, and other community-based activities. Train and mentor community volunteers and mothersโ€™ groups on child nutrition, hygiene, and food preservation practices.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

Conduct data collection, track progress and behaviour changes, and report on project outcomes, lessons learned, and challenges.

Coordination and Collaboration

Liaise and work closely with Area Secretaries / Area Administrators, health workers, schools, churches, and agricultural / WASH agents to roll out project components; participate in coordination meetings as required.

Health, Safety & Risk

Promote safe work practices, report hazards, and apply mitigation Participate in health and safety awareness and follow procedures

Child Safeguarding

Ensure a child-safe environment and follow protection protocols Act with integrity in all child-related interactions Report and respond to safeguarding concerns as per policy

This role requires:

At least 2 years of experience working in community mobilization, preferably in health, nutrition, or WASH projects Familiarity with participatory approaches and community engagement strategies Strong interpersonal and communication skills in Bislama and English Experience working in rural or outer island contexts, preferably within Shefa Province
