The Science Communications Specialist develops and manages strategic communications plans for designated Alliance research areas. The selected person will leverage strong technical knowledge of research, plus close contact with scientists based across the globe, to produce written content that showcases research impact to target audiences. The specialist will also identify strategic priorities to inform institutional communications and resource mobilization. 

The position will be based in the operations center of the Americas, located in the Campus of Palmira, Colombia.  

Requirements

Qualifications and requirements 

• Bachelor's degree in communications, or related fields.  
  
• Master's, Degree in Communications, or relevant research field. 
  
• Prior experience working in an international organization, and in multiple time zones. 
  
• Thematic knowledge of topics including agriculture, food systems, climate change, agrobiodiversity, nutrition, poverty and livelihoods, digital and gender inclusion, crop research and sustainable development. 
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.  
  
• Fluency in English (oral and written) is essential. Working competency in Spanish, French, or other UN languages is a plus (oral and written). 
  
• Experience in progressive communications (at least 5 years), leading and deploying strategic plans and other communications deliverables.

  This is a national recruited position placed at a BG08, on a scale of 14 levels, with level 14 being the highest.u202F 
  

  This is a Colombian national search and will be managed through a fixed term contract of a one (1) year period, subject to a probation period according to the local legislation and is renewable depending on performance and availability of resources.
