Communication activities are geared towards increasing awareness of UNDP technical and intellectual capacities contributing to Kosovo with its development agenda, focusing on social inclusion and human development for all.
Communication activities include advocacy and awareness raising on key development challenges in Kosovo such as inclusive growth, democratic governance, environment and gender equality.
The Communications Assistant will be supporting UNDP Communications Team with development of digital communication content, more specifically with the production of social media content, web content and other related tasks, ensuring that the results and impact made by UNDP in Kosovo is disseminated across wide audiences.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Communications Team, the Communications Assistant supports the implementation of the communications and advocacy strategies of the office to increase the standing and awareness of UNDP with partners, the media and the public. The Communications Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach in UNDP.

The Communications Assistant works in close collaboration with the programme, operations and project staff, as required.

UNDP adopts a portfolio approach to accommodate changing business needs and leverage linkages across interventions to achieve its strategic goals. Therefore, UNDP personnel are expected to work across units, functions, teams, and projects in multidisciplinary teams in order to enhance and enable horizontal collaboration.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

1.)  Supports the implementation of communication and outreach strategies in the office.
•     Assist in extracting data from various sources. 
•     Full technical support to Communications office.  
•     Maintain information database and photo library.   
•     Creation of videos for social media channels of UNDP
•     Taking photos of UNDP events and creating designs of announcements, vacancies and other visibility materials
•     Posting and updating of Exposure platform and website with stories

2.)  Support implementation of office publications strategy and plan.
•      Provide design support in preparing of different publications, both internal and external. 
•     Assist the Communication Office with the dissemination of publications.

3.)  Support maintenance of office web-based knowledge management system.
•     Assist in updating website in line with corporate guidelines. Maintenaning and updating of the UNDP websites and social media channels.
•     Maintain database of digital content for web sites and social media platforms.  

4.) Provide input to and support implementation of office communication campaign and advocacy initiatives to increase awareness of UNDP’s mandate and goals through dissemination of information and organization of public and media events. 
•     Provide logistical support to UNDP campaigns, and to the organization of other publicity/outreach/promotional opportunities for country office programme and projects. 
•     Provide administrative and logistical support to the communications team for initiatives such as media workshops, project visits, and report launches. 
•     Gather information as input to reports on progress of campaign and advocacy activities.

5.)  Provide support to Communications team in knowledge management and dissemination.
•     Collect knowledge products from programmes and projects and archive them properly. 
•     Upload content on Internal database and website guided by the Communications Associate.

The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
    
Institutional Arrangement

The Communications Assistant works under the general supervision of the Communications Associate and collaborates closely with the Communications Team.

Minimum Education requirements
•     Secondary education is required.
•     University Degree (Bachelor´s degree) in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, or related field will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
Minimum years of relevant work experience 
•     Minimum of 4 years (with secondary education) or 1 year (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in communications, public relations and/or administration is required.
  Required skills 
•     Proven experience in organization of large-scaled events, workshops, trainings, flash mobs etc.
•     Knowledge of the communication tools both online and offline.
•     Excellent knowledge of MS Office, as well as user level knowledge in Photoshop and Corel Draw.
•     Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and process. 
•     Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based management systems, and advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.

•     Experience in preparation of financial reports and overviews 
•     Knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation tools 
•     Experience in project management processes 
•     Experience in procurement procedures of national / international organizations 
  Required Language(s) 
•     Fluency in English is required.
•     Fluency in Albanian or Serbian is required.
