UNICEF Mexico Country Office operates in a dynamic environment and its Country Programme Document (CPD) 2026–2031 is designed to respond to a rapidly evolving national context, marked by significant social, economic, and political changes, including a new government administration and shifting policy priorities. The new CPD aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026-31 and Mexico’s National Development Plan, focusing on four strategic areas: governance and rule of law, social inclusion and substantive equality, inclusive and resilient economy, and environment and climate change. Cross-cutting priorities include gender equality, human mobility, indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples, and youth.  

UNICEF works in Mexico to support the country´s efforts to implement the Convention on the Rights of the Child through integrated interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and social policy, with emphasis on evidence-based programming, multisectoral collaboration, and innovation. The office also prioritizes advocacy and partnership-building with government, civil society, and the private sector to scale up successful initiatives, mobilize resources, and promote policy change.

How can you make a difference? 

This role as Communication Officer (Advocacy), (NO-1) supports UNICEF Mexico’s efforts to better advocate for children’s right, including strengthening the office capacity for advocacy and implementing public advocacy strategies, under the under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer (Public Advocacy) (NO-2) in UNICEF Mexico´s Communication Area (led by the Chief of Communication). 

Within the delegated authority and the given organizational set-up, the incumbent will be accountable for the following major duties and end results.
