The International Water Management Institute (IWMI), a CGIAR Research Center, is seeking applications from enthusiastic students who are looking to gain professional experience in the field of Communications and Knowledge Management for the CGIAR Initiative on Climate Resilience also known as ClimBeR.

Scope of internship

The ClimBeR initiative aims to transform the climate adaptation capacity of food, land and water systems, ultimately increasing the resilience of smallholder production systems to withstand severe the effects of climate change such as droughts, floods and high temperatures. Work Package 4 (WP4) of the initiative deals with multi-scale governance for transformative climate adaptation.

This initiative builds on the existing adaptation interventions. In close collaboration with stakeholders, the project identifies the governance pathways for enabling enhanced coordination for co-designing, co-developing and co-implementing adaptation interventions and coherent policies. Such governance processes will ensure bottom-up approaches that reflect community needs and priorities. This ClimBeR project also draws from best practices and lessons learned across countries and contexts.

During the internship period, the intern will assist communication activities of the ClimBeR initiative under the guidance of the Project Leader and in close coordination with the communication teams of IWMI and CGIAR.

The intern will assist in the following areas:

With guidance. research and support the production/development of communication collaterals for the CGIAR ClimBeR Initiative including for social media. Support the production of visual and written communication materials. Support in writing and editing and publishing blogs, articles and social media content on products, publications, workshops, successes, etc., of the ClimBeR initiative. Support effective coordination with CGIAR/ClimBer communications and IWMI HQ communications team for timely development and promotion of content. Assist in translating science outputs into content suitable for broader audiences Help with the preparation of a strong media database. Help organize photographs, videos, etc., for future reference. Provide day-to-day support for communication-related activities.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience:

Undergraduate/Postgraduate students specializing in the fields of Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Social Sciences or any other related discipline. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook. Basic knowledge of design software, including Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva. Ability to work in a multicultural environment with strong teamwork skills.

IWMI will provide a monthly stipend to the selected candidate during the internship period.

The duration of the internship is 6 months, with the possibility of an extension of another 6 months based on performance, the requirements of IWMI, and the availability of funds. This is a nationally recruited internship, and only Sri Lankan citizens are eligible to apply.
