Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Supply Chain Management Section of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), Camp Faouar, Syria. The Chief of Unit, Supply will report to the Chief, Supply Chain Management. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Chief of Unit, Supply will be responsible for the following duties: โข Manages supply and related service issues that affect the field mission, including managing, coordinating and supervising activities in receiving, inspecting, storage & container yard management, picking, packing, shipping, and disposing of materials and other supply warehouse operations. โข Formulates and oversees overall supply support and supplies required by the field mission. โข Coordinates between senior management at Mission, UNHQ, and as applicable, UNGSC, to establish priorities and develop comprehensive warehousing material delivery and plans to meet customer needs. โข Facilitates the visibility on stock levels to all stakeholders during budget preparation, acquisition, and distribution. โข Develops strategy of receiving goods as per delivery terms and coordinate with relevant stakeholder for timely issuance, delivery and return of goods. โข Establishes systems that ensure inventory accuracy such as frequent inventory count, timely resolution of discrepancies and proper recording of transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (UMOJA) system. โข Coordinates with Technical Sections to establish, adjust supply/demand plans and schedules that produce the available stock levels and high customer service level. โข Initiates and oversees periodic reviews of policies, practices and directives to ensure best practices in warehouse operations. โข Liaises with the Mission Contract Management Unit/Compliance Management Section in the resolution of contractual implementation disputes. โข Support the Chief Centralized Warehousing in developing the Section business plans and monitors the implementation of individual work plans. โข Develops, trains, and monitors performance of personnel within the Unit. โข Performs other related duties as required. EducationAdvanced university degree (Masterโs degree or equivalent) in business administration, supply chain management, public administration, law, engineering or related field such as operations management, logistics, industrial engineering is required. A first level university degree with a combination of two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Job - Specific QualificationRelevant training in SAP (ERP) logistics execution (LES), inventory management (IM) and warehousing modules (WM) or equivalent is desirable. Work ExperienceA minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in in the development, planning, management and support of international commercial operations, military or field operations is required. Experience in logistics or operations management is required. At least two (2) years of recent experience in a supervisory role in warehousing or supply chain execution within the last five years is required. Experience in deploying data analytics to enhance the effectiveness/efficiency of warehouse operations is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
