Action Against Hunger USA is part of the Action Against Hunger International network. As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and Haiti.

About the Role

The Chief Impact Officer is a Nairobi-based executive reporting directly to the CEO. This role ensures that Action Against Hunger USA\u2019s strategies, programs, and partnerships collectively deliver measurable, evidence-driven impact.
You will design organizational impact strategy, strengthen program quality across all country offices, align systems with strategic outcomes, and represent the organization at regional and global levels.

Key Responsibilities

Impact Leadership & Strategy

Develop and oversee a comprehensive impact strategy centered on technical excellence and program quality. Align organizational goals with measurable humanitarian and resilience outcomes.

Regional & Executive Leadership

Serve as the organization\u2019s regional representative in Nairobi. Support and hold Country Directors accountable for high-quality programming and effective resource use. Cultivate values-driven leadership across multi-country teams.

Operational Excellence

Ensure cohesive systems, workflows, and accountability standards across all country operations. Safeguard program integrity, fiduciary responsibility, and risk management.

Program Quality Assurance

Lead evidence-based program design, learning, and technical rigor across sectors. Promote continuous improvement and accountability to affected populations.

Stakeholder Engagement, Advocacy & Communications

Partner with donors, UN agencies, governments, and alliances to advance joint impact. Translate program evidence into compelling insights that strengthen funding, policy influence, and organizational credibility. Champion Action Against Hunger\u2019s thought leadership globally.

Impact Measurement, Reporting & Innovation

Establish frameworks, tools, and systems for outcome measurement and transparent reporting. Lead innovation, adaptive learning, and organizational agility across all program portfolios.

Requirements

Progressive senior leadership (20 + years)in the field of international humanitarian assistance and development.At least 10 years shaping strategy development, impact measurement, organizational planning, accountability, and organizational effectiveness. Advanced degree in Social Sciences, International Development, Agronomy, Natural Resources Management, Public Health, or related field.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.Fluency in English; working proficiency in French and/or Spanish strongly preferred.Proficiency in MS Office 365 and SharePoint, with minimal IT support. Travel requirement 25-30%.
