Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Business Transformation and Project Management Section of the Analytics and Project Management Service, in the Business Transformation and Accountability Division (BTAD) of the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The Change and Project Management Officer reports to the Senior Programme Officer. The focus of this job is the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, operations and other activities in a particular functional area. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Change and Project Management Officer will be responsible for the following duties: โข Supports all major activities within the Business Transformation and Project Management Section of the Division of Business Transformation and Accountability (BTAD) with a focus on delivering transformation, innovation, and change initiatives. โข Assists in ensuring that the UN Secretariatโs business model is aligned with evolving mandates and changing operational environments. โข Supports the continual refinement of business strategy based on anticipated client needs. โข Monitors new trends, keeps abreast of industry best practices and proactively identifies opportunities to innovate. โข Participates in the identification of change management issues and in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned projects to prepare and support organizational change, whether on the global Secretariat scale or on a specific topical issue. This includes, but is not limited to, reform initiatives. โข Supports the planning, execution, and delivery of complex, cross-functional transformation projects, including those with global scope and strategic impact; facilitates workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change. โข Researches, analyzes and develops innovative ways of presenting information gathered from diverse sources. โข Assists in project and change management training and guidance and supports departments/offices/missions in structural or process changes arising from new mandates. โข Ensures that transformation projects are designed, consulted, communicated and implemented according to best practices in change management. โข Supports effective project management by capturing and documenting the project scope and business requirements, specifying deliverables, estimating resources and timelines and monitoring progress against the project plan. โข Assists in the management of risks, issues and changes on the project and ensures key stakeholders are aware of such issues. Develops risk mitigation plan where applicable. โข Participates in survey initiatives; assists with design of data collection tools; issues data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares preliminary conclusions and develops innovative ways of presenting information gathered from diverse sources. โข Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, e.g. background papers, analytical notes, substantial sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc. โข Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. โข Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities. โข Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (project preparation and submissions, progress reports, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.). โข Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. โข Performs other duties as required. Uses time efficiently. EducationAdvanced university degree (Masterโs degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, information management, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is an advantage. Job - Specific QualificationNot available. Work ExperienceA minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project management, change management, information management or related area is required. Experience with large-scale implementation of organizational change initiatives or major business transformation projects is required. Experience in management consulting, business analysis, innovation, and new ways of working is required. Experience in the United Nations system or comparable international organizations is desirable. Two years or more of experience in process improvement and data analytics is desirable.
