โโUnder the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) in Montenegro and in close collaboration with Communications Officer (Western Balkans), the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of PR, media and communication activitiesย and accountable for contributing to the preparation and dissemination of communications materials that promote IOMโs work and raise awareness of migration issues in the Montenegroย all in line with IOM guidelines, policies and procedures and donor requirements.
The main responsibilities will include but not limited to the following activities:
- โAssist in maintaining close relationship with local media, news portals and communication channels.
- Monitor media and communications by and about IOM in the country, assist in improving visibility and enhance media engagement and presence at events organized by IOM Montenegro.ย
- Liaise with media and communications counterparts in governmental and non-governmental partner agencies, Embassies etc.
- Assist in the implementation of IOM Montenegroโs Communications Strategy, PR, outreach, visibility and media liaison,ย including content planning for social media and web platforms.
- Draft correspondence and other documents as needed (Missionโs statements, Note verbale, press releases and media advisories, releases, periodic newsletters and other PR material).
- Participate in Missionโs key events and workshops and undertake field duty travels as needed to collect and draft multimedia content, including photographs, coverage of field activities, and human interest stories.
- Assist in design and production of various communication products, infographics and reports.
- Regular update and maintenance of IOM Montenegro social media accounts etc.ย
- Assist with IOM Montenegroโs websiteย regular updates and maintenance.
- โAttend all communication groups IOM Montenegro takes part in and contribute to all activities envisaged and planned by communication groups, including reporting on IOM Montenegro activities.ย
- โโโ Maintain records of outgoing and incoming documents and archive them; proofread documents and format texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style, as well as for adherence to established standards.ย
- Provide general assistance in the coordination and implementation of communication strategies of projects implemented by the Mission.
- Assist in implementation of various communication and awareness raising campaigns for projects implemented by the Mission, ensuring compliance with donor visibility requirements.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- โHigh school diploma with five years of relevant experience; or,ย
- โBachelorโs degree in Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Law or related fields from an accredited institution with three years of relevant professional experience.ย ย
Experience
- Experience in drafting press releases, newsletters, success and human centered-stories, editing and proofreading;
- Experience in digital communications and social media, including content planning and management;ย
- Experience in managing donor visibility;
- Experience working with media;ย
- Experience working in an international/non-government organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage;
- Category B driving license and active driving experience are desired.
Skills
- โโProficient in Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook;ย
- โโExcellent communication and negotiation skills;ย
- โKnowledge of web, social media and basic graphic design (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) and photography;;ย
- โExcellent skills in drafting and editing in both English and Montenegrin; and,
- Familiarity with migration-related issues in the region advantageous..

Notes - All-inclusive fee for this post is 1,450 EUR per month, for 50% of the working time (19.5 hours per week).
