Business Development Consultant - Central America Consultant

Dates: February 2024 - July 2024 (6 month engagement)

Location: Various/remote โ€“ must be available to collaborate during Central America time zone business hours

To provide support to the Central America Executive Director, and El Salvador team as they go through a period of growth. The consultant will lead the process of a landscape analysis of the current funding opportunities available that matches both Alightโ€™s values and purpose and consolidate next steps towards the identified potential donors and funding organizations interested in supporting initiatives in Central America Region.

This position will also collaborate with the Director of Global Support, and Global Support Coordinator, to articulate the El Salvador teamโ€™s vision and align with the country program work as well as Alightโ€™s new strategical direction.

Background:

Alight El Salvador has been working on an engagement strategy in addition to working towards building a strong program amplifying the extraordinary projects implemented since 2018, utilizing the unique hyper localization the Catholic Sisters, as local associates, bring to the Alight partnership.

What weโ€™re seeking: This position is a Business Development Consultant in Central America region and requires a dynamic and experienced professional who can drive effective business development strategies and secure funding for impactful projects in the region. Candidates should demonstrate proven success in fundraising and business development in the Northern Triangle. Spanish & English fluency required.

Specific Activities

  • Support business development efforts in the Central America Region (SLV/GTM/PAN), with a focus on developing and implementing strategies to secure funding for projects and programs.
  • Develop and execute innovative fundraising strategies to secure financial support for projects and programs in the Central America Region.
  • Identify and engage with potential donors and funding organizations interested in supporting initiatives in the Central America Region
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to assess funding opportunities, donor trends, and competitive landscape in the region.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and develop project proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organization's objectives.
  • Manage the end-to-end proposal development process, including writing compelling narratives, creating budgets, and ensuring timely submission.
  • Support the team to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and local communities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in business development and fundraising.

Application process: Submit proposal quotation in USD. The proposal should include a workplan, weekly scope, milestones and daily or project rate.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, International Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, grant management, or fundraising in the international development sector, preferably in Central America
  • Proven track record in securing funding from a diverse range of donors and funding organizations.
  • Strong understanding of donor regulations, compliance requirements, and proposal development processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and build partnerships.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to identify and seize new business opportunities.
  • Spanish and English fluency (oral and verbal) is required.
  • Proven success in fundraising and business development in the Northern Triangle essential
