Weโre affecting real climate-change impact for children in Tonga
The Building the Climate Resilience of Children and Communities through the Education Sector (BRACE) initiative is a multi-country climate adaptation project implemented in Tonga, South Sudan, and Cambodia, with primary funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF). In Tonga, BRACE is delivered through a partnership between the Executing Entity (EE), the Government of Tonga via the Ministry of Education and Training (MET), and the Accredited Entity (AE), Save the Children Australia.
The initiative aims to strengthen the resilience of children and communities by embedding climate adaptation into education systems and practices. A Project Management Unit (PMU) will be established within MET to support project implementation, including planning, coordination, financial and contract management, environmental and social safeguards, and monitoring and reporting. The PMU is responsible for the overall coordination of BRACE and is led by the Team Leader.

In this full-time, maximum term role, youโll work as a part of our team in Nukuโalofa to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. The Operations Manager plays an important role in delivering on our vision of a better world for children. The Operations Manager will lead the operational functions of the BRACE Project in Tonga, ensuring robust systems and processes for finance, procurement, human resources, risk management, and general administration.
You will make a difference by:
Working closely with the Team Leader and PMU staff to support strategic planning, operational coordination, and continuous improvement Leading logistical planning for project activities, including workshops, field missions, and stakeholder engagements. Overseeing financial management of the project including financial reporting, budgeting and expenditure tracking. Overseeing human resources management including coordinating recruitment and onboarding, performance management systems and professional development planning. Role modelling the values of the Government of Tonga, Save the Children, and the Green Climate Fund, promoting values-based leadership.Does this sound like you?
You have a minimum of five years of substantial experience in operations management within development or climate resilience programs.
This role requires:
Proven experience in finance, procurement, HR, and administration in donor-funded projects. Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and risk management. Excellent organizational and coordination skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working across government and donor stakeholders.We strongly encourage Tongan and/or other Pacific Nationals to apply for this role.
