MDPU designs and delivers the Instituteโs core diplomacy training (CDT), consisting primarily of orientation briefings and short, intensive skills development workshops which benefit cumulatively some 2,500 diplomats yearly at the United Nations Headquarters and other venues where the Organization maintains a significant presence.
Parallel to CDT, MDPU develops and delivers training activities at country and regional levels in close partnership with governments, universities and selected international organizations. MDPUโs activities also include e-Learning courses; special projects, advisory services related to the curriculum development of diplomatic academies; and the development of other training tools and publications.
Background
In line with the Instituteโs efforts to strengthen its training activity portfolio, the Multilateral Diplomacy Programme is developing an unprecedented amount of online and face-to-face activities offered to the diplomatic community based in Geneva, New York and elsewhere.
The Programme also routinely organizes tailor-made activities upon request of donors and partners. These activities target government officials involved in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, students and younger generation.
Accountabilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Programme Specialist of UNITARโs Multilateral Diplomacy Programme Unit, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties:
- Design, implementation and evaluation of capacity development activities to contribute to the overall expansion and quality development of projects and activities on training, learning, and knowledge management, by:
- Producing project documents and proposals for submission to potential donors;
Results achieved from this post will affect delivery of the Programme Unitโs training activities, along with other Units where the training is of cross cutting nature. Actions meet corporate standards for professional delivery and behaviour and include decision making; recommendations and advice for activity development and delivery; development of partnership agreements; research into training products and topics; problem solving. The conduct of the individual serves as a role model for colleagues.
