The IFC Korea Office is seeking to recruit an Associate Operations Officer/ Operations Officer to be based in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The Associate Operations Officer/ Operations Officer will report to the Senior Country Officer of IFC Korea Office and her/his responsibilities will include business development/execution, relationship management with key partners, managing relations with government officials as well as promoting and coordinating IFCโs operations in Korea.
Duties and Accountabilitiesย ย โข ย Support the Senior Country Officer in implementing the IFC Korea work program.ย โข ย Build and maintain effective relationships with government officials and close relationships with key IFC partners and WBG counterparts in the country office to further IFCโs activities.โข ย Effectively liaise and interact with an extensive network of contacts at senior levels (both internal and external), responding to inquiries and addressing diverse situations with tact and pragmatic problem-solving skills.โข ย Proactively identify potential investment partners and opportunities based on proven credit quality, market potential, reputation, strategic fit, etc.โข ย Utilize strong deal sense and bankability assessment skills expertise to advance business development discussions into executable transactions.โข ย Work closely with IFCโs specialists to assess environmental, social, technical, legal, insurance, corporate governance, and other risks in projects and champion IFCโs sustainability offerings to clients.โข ย Participate in deal structuring discussions with clients; use negotiation skills to overcome impasses and close transactions.ย โข ย Create documents and reports for diverse audiences, including business development pitch books, regional and country strategy presentations and IFC internal approval documents.ย โข ย Monitor and supervise clientsโ compliance with the terms of investment agreements, prepare timely supervision reports, identify early warning signs, and if required formulate/implement strategies for workouts, restructurings or rescheduling.โข ย Mentor and coach junior staff.โข ย Provide support for visiting missions.
Selection Criteria
โข ย Masterโs degree in business, Economics, Public Policy, or related field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, including advanced financial skills is required.โข ย Strong understanding of Koreaโs political, economic and industrial landscape, as well as of the broader East Asia and Pacific region. Experience of working in this region is a valuable asset.โข ย Experience in investment transactions, with proven success in developing client relationships as well as sourcing, negotiating, structuring and closing quality investments.โข ย Strong financial and credit skills; sound business judgment and proven ability to structure a variety of sophisticated financial instruments (debt and equity).ย โข ย Knowledge of outbound investments trends of Korean corporates, based on strong local industry networks.ย โข ย Knowledge of IFC investment processes and familiarity with IFC databases (such as MIS, RMS, and other iDesk applications) would be an advantage.ย โข ย Ability to interface directly and independently with the senior management of clients, financial and technical partners as well as senior government officials.โข ย Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries and to build networks across the region, including the ability to mentor and coach others to achieve results.โข ย Excellent written and oral communication skills in Korean and English.
