Org. Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Secretary-General is responsible for the investment of the assets of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF). The Secretary-General has delegated this responsibility to the Representative of the Secretary-General for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF (RSG). The RSG is, in turn, assisted in this function by the Office of Investment Management (OIM). OIM manages a $90+ billion multi-asset class, global investment portfolio, about 85% of which is actively managed in-house. Asset classes under management comprise global equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, private equity, real estate, infrastructure, timber and commodities. This position is located in the Information System Section of OIM. The incumbent reports to the Information Systems Officer. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the Associate Information Systems Officer may be responsible for the following duties: โ€ข Participates in preparing user requirements and other technical specifications. โ€ข Assists in the design, development and installation of information systems. โ€ข Undertakes analysis of well-defined modules within the system, develop enhancements and new features to existing systems; may design and implement small, stand-alone systems as needed (e.g. to meet individual user requirements). โ€ข Undertakes rigorous testing and quality assurance of applications software. โ€ข Maintains assigned portions of systems, providing operational support for system applications, analyzing and implementing system changes/upgrades, etc. โ€ข Participates in developing and maintaining Information Systems project plans, schedules, and budgets. Assists in identifying appropriate human and technical resources to complete the project, assists in assuring that deviations from project schedule are addressed and communicated, assists in developing timely project status reports, monitoring project risk factors, escalating project issues, and providing Quality Assurance for all project deliverables. โ€ข Liaises with OIM Service Providers such as OICT, ICC, Navisite, Bloomberg, NT and Pension Administration to support Network Infrastructure and Security โ€ข Writes and develops programs to interface with existing systems. โ€ข Ensures data security and integrity. โ€ข Participates in developing disaster recovery plans. โ€ข Prepares, updates and maintains the systemโ€™s documentation and related technical/procedural manuals. โ€ข Assists in procurements, including conducting needs assessments and benchmarks, preparing technical specifications and evaluation criteria. โ€ข Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. โ€ข Assists in the set-up and monitoring of software performance measures. โ€ข Participates in Service Management activities. โ€ข Participates in facilitating communications between IT and its vendors and suppliers for good support and maintenance of their products and services. โ€ข Assists in the development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between the vendors or suppliers and IT, for either specific IT services or general technology support, including any chargeback mechanisms. โ€ข Advises users on the most suitable hardware and software for different tasks; maintains and enhances software. โ€ข Drafts training materials and conducts training sessions and demonstrations of systems for users. โ€ข Participates with senior staff in assessing and testing new technology. โ€ข Performs ad hoc duties as required. โ€ข May provide guidance to new/junior staff. Work ExperienceA minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related area is required. At least two years of experience in ICT Network administration including configuring Cisco switches and routers, LANs, WANs, WIFI, Firewalls is required. Experience in configuring virtual machines, appliances, vulnerability and patch management is required. Experience with ticketing systems such as iNeed, ServiceNow or similar ITSM is required. Experience in Active Directory services, Azure Active Directory, M365 is required Experience using at least two years of Azure IaaS and PaaS networking and security concepts is desirable. Experience with Windows and iOS endpoints, Active Directory/Azure Active Directory, M365, Azure Virtual Desktop and MS Intune is desirable. Experience Programming such as Phyton, Perl, PowerShell, MS power automate is desirable. Experience in Windows and Linux systems administration is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the UN Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
