This position will be based out of Washington DC and will be a hybrid model requiring 3 days a week in-office. Existing work authorization is required at the time of application submission. The High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC) (www.hacfornatureandpeople.org/home) is an intergovernmental group of more than 120 countriesโco-chaired by Costa Rica and France championing a global deal for nature and people with the central goal of protecting at least 30 percent of the worldโs land and ocean area by 2030. The 30x30 target is a global target which aims to halt the accelerating loss of species and protect vital ecosystems that are the source of our economic security.

You will support Secretariat efforts in the implementation of the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and Peopleโs technical assistance and capacity building efforts. This role requires strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills to enhance country engagement, facilitate and enhance partnerships. The HAC Secretariat is co-hosted by WRI and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). You will report to the Senior Associate for Technical Assistance and Capacity Building.
What you will do:
Capacity Building (50%)
30x30 Solutions toolkit
- Lead 30x30 Solutions Toolkit: management, and continuous improvement of the 30x30 Solutions Toolkit website.
- Plan and execute updates and upgrades to the platform.
- Conduct outreach to partners and supporters to encourage resource submissions and promote toolkit utilization.
- Organize, prepare and co-facilite Core Team and Editorial Team meetings
Webinar, trainings and regional workshops
- Lead the planning, logistics, and execution of regional capacity-building workshops
- Organizing and contributing to capacity building activities including webinar, online training and learning events
- Collaborate and coordinate with partners to co-host and facilitate training sessions
- Organize peer-to-peer exchanges and specialized training in collaboration with partners and supporters
Operative support to the matchmaking (25%): -
- Review and manage requests for assistance from members
- Support in the submission and review of the requests
- Oversee platform accounts and notification systems
- Provide support of the matchmaking platform improvement and IT development when needed
Organizational support to the HAC Secretariat (25%): -
- Engage with partners and supporters
- Engage with countries and political mobilization activities
- Identify opportunities for collaboration with technical and research assistance providers based on countries needs
- Participate in strategic discussions and planning
- Contribute to daily operations and implementation of HAC activities
What you will need:
- Education: You have a completed bachelorโs degree in natural sciences, political science, or socio-economic sciences. Relevant work experience in lieu of degree is accepted
- Experience: You have 7+ years of relevant professional experience
- Experience and deep knowledge regarding strategies for advancing place-based nature conservation
- Experience designing and delivering technical assistance and capacity-building to government agencies (ideally in the realm of nature conservation or the environment)
- Experience managing relationships with and between mid-level managers from government agencies and non-governmental organizations
- Experience in a role that required high-level communications (verbal, written, public) to different audiences
- Languages: You have written and verbal fluency in English, with additional common languages (e.g. Spanish, French) a plus
- Requirements: Existing work authorization is required where this position is based. WRI is unable to authorize visa work authorization
Potential Salary: US salary range is between 96,000 and 116,000 USD. Salary is commensurate with experience and other compensable factors.
