Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis position is located within the Communications and Results Reporting Section (CRRS) of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) Headquarters in New York. In its resolution A/RES/72/279 (https://undocs.org/A/RES/72/279), the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the transformation of DCO as a stand-alone coordination office within the United Nations Secretariat. The new DCO assumes managerial and oversight functions of the Resident Coordinator System (RCS) under the collective ownership of the members of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG). The position reports to a Communications Officer and is under the overall supervision of the Chief of CRRS. Within delegated authority, the incumbent is responsible for the following duties, which are related to the next phase of operationalizing DCO-backed website solutions for the RCS, including the integration of UN INFO, a digital platform used by UN country teams (UNCTs) to boost transparency and accountability for development coordination, and the operationalization of DCO 2.0: Task 1: Upgrade the UNCT Web Platform โ€ข Provides first-level technical support to UNCT website managers, ensuring smooth operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the overall UNCT website platform. โ€ข Support the coordination with external and UN stakeholders to implement updates, build or migrate content, resolve technical issues, and integrate UN INFO and e-reports into UNCT websites. โ€ข Perform quality assurance tasks for platform enhancements, ensuring compliance with UN standards on security, accessibility, and multilingual content delivery, translating content as relevant. โ€ข Monitor website performance indicators, including user engagement, traffic analytics, and platform functionality, to inform data-driven improvements. โ€ข Contribute to the maintenance of governance frameworks, including institutional knowledge best practices, operational guidelines and inventories for UNCT websites. Task 2: Enhance the UNSDG and DCO Global Websites โ€ข Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the UNSDG and DCO global websites, including interactive digital reports such as the annual UNSDG chairโ€™s e-report. โ€ข Ensure editorial and technical quality assurance, applying best practices in Search Engine Optimization (SEO), accessibility, and data visualization to maximize audience engagement. โ€ข Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze digital engagement trends, and provide insights to optimize the UNSDG global websiteโ€™s reach and effectiveness. โ€ข Upload and update content on the UNSDG and DCO global websites, performing regular quality assurance tasks and translating content to ensure compliance with UN standards on accessibility and multilingualism. Task 3: Build Digital Assets for DCO 2.0 โ€ข Participate in the production and dissemination of digital content, including blogs, social media posts, photo stories, data visualizations, videos and podcasts aligned with DCO 2.0 priorities. โ€ข Assist with the development of content production strategies that enhance the visibility and impact of DCO 2.0 initiatives and partners, leveraging multimedia such as infographics, videos, and e- reports. โ€ข Support digital content production focal points in liaising with UN and external stakeholders to identify impactful content, streamlining processes and maintaining editorial planning tools. โ€ข Track and analyze content engagement, providing regular performance reports that use data-driven insights to support evidence-based decision-making. โ€ข Support digital communities of practice, including web managers and digital content producers, maintaining collaboration tools, guidelines and asset repositories in close consultation with UNCTs. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (masterโ€™s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, digital marketing, computer science, or a related ๏ฌeld is required. A ๏ฌrst-level university degree in combination with two years of additional relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of two years (four years with bachelorโ€™s degree) of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, digital marketing, web development or related areas is required. Experience working with technical developers and content creators to deploy multilingual websites using Drupal or comparable Content Management Systems (CMS) is required. Experience drafting content for websites and social media channels in a professional capacity to mobilize multilateral collaboration is required. Experience in performing quality assurance reviews and monitoring and evaluation of website performance using Google Analytics or comparable tools is desirable. Experience developing data visualizations for website and social media outlets using Power BI, Tableau, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or comparable tools is desirable. Experience building and supporting online collaboration platforms using Microsoft 365 or comparable productivity software is desirable.
