The positions for Associate Data Analyst are located in any organizational setting that benefits from the extensive analysis of data. The Associate Data Analyst executes the data analyses required for various decision-making processes. Using a range of data tools and products, the Associate Data Analyst processes and analyses data to support the generation of strategic insights. The Associate Data Analyst contributes to interacting with counterparts, officers and technical staff in relevant organizational units in data engineering, data science and other data specialists, data owners and subject matter experts for the development and implementation of the databases, data collection systems and data analytics that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. It also contributes to the interaction with external counterparts in the UN funds, programs and other UN specialized agencies, consultants, and NGOs to collaborate and exchange information and best practices. The position also contributes to interacting with counterparts and technical staff in relevant organizational units in data analytics, data engineer, data owners and subject matter experts to support data initiatives through building data models to be used in data analysis, prediction in support of organization's requirements and compliance with data governance, protection and security needs. It also contributes to external relationship with the UN funds, programs and other UN specialized agencies, research institutes and business industry, consultants, and NGOs to collaborate and exchange best practices and to update on new products or services. The position is located in the United Nations Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Praia, Cabo Verde, and reports to the Head of RCO and Strategic Planner. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the incumbent will perform the following duties: a. Implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. b. Contribute to the identification, analysis and interpretation of trends or patterns, using statistical methods to identify relevant features and variables in structured sources of information and data. c. Implement process improvement mechanisms for data analytics tasks; acquire and clean data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems. d. Contribute to the design and development of data science products to reveal insights and to provide an understanding or knowledge of the data that would otherwise not be detected without the application of advanced analytical methods such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, data and text mining, natural language processing, statistics, and use of relevant algorithms and computational approaches. e. Contribute to the development of processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy. f. Conduct data collection, cleaning, and preliminary analysis, contributing to the identification of patterns and trends. g. Design internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing architecture for greater scalability h. Implement solutions to data-related technical problems and data infrastructure updates. i. Performs other related tasks as assigned.
