ABOUT THE ROLE
STRENGTHENING ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE THROUGH DATA-DRIVEN INSIGHTS
The Associate Data and Monitoring Officer will contribute to WMO's organizational performance assessment and informed decision-making through development and application of assessment methodologies and tools, including for climate services, and preparation of analytical, data-driven reports for Executive Management, governance bodies and Members.
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Planning, Foresight and Performance (P-5), the Associate Data and Monitoring Officer will support the WMO planning, monitoring and reporting processes while applying established methodologies and contributing to their enhancement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development and application of performance monitoring and country assessment tools (such as diagnostics, climate service and rapid assessments, rolling reviews, etc.) by contributing to tool design, methodological enhancements, data collection, and analysis processes.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of methodologies, tools, and processes by providing feedback from implementation, testing improved approaches, and ensuring alignment.
- Generate modern data products (e.g. infographics, story maps, interactive dashboards, and reports) that effectively communicate key findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Contribute to the development of performance reports, analytical studies, and communication materials by compiling, synthesizing, and presenting monitoring results in accessible formats, in close collaboration with the rest of the PFPO team.
- Support the integration of monitoring data into strategic and operational planning processes by synthesizing findings, identifying trends, and providing inputs that strengthen evidence-based decision-making.
- Provide support to planning exercises, as required, in collaboration with all WMO departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Master's degree or equivalent in International Relations, Business Administration, International Development or a closely related field. A first-level university degree or equivalent in combination with two years of additional directly relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the master's degree.
Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of combined national and international progressively responsible experience in planning, monitoring and performance assessment.
- Excellent knowledge of results-based management theory and application, including designing of performance metrics and generation of modern data products.
- Experience in digital transformation initiatives on data, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and data presentation.

Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of the Organization would be an advantage.
(Note: The official languages of the Organization are Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.) The position is funded from regular budget.
New appointments on fixed-term contract of one year or more shall be subject to an initial one-year probation period. SALARY AND ALLOWANCES
Annual net base salary on initial appointment is: US$ 55163
Annual post adjustment on initial salary is: US$ 48930 (in addition to the net base salary) Additional Information:
