About this position
The Research Department (RES) coordinates the Central Bank Adaptation to Climate Change initiative and the Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries. Both operations engage directly with policymakers across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The climate initiative aims to build the capacity of central banks in eight LAC countries to address climate-related challenges by improving data sharing, fostering policy dialogue, strengthening research and knowledge dissemination, and supporting best practices in climate-related policymaking.
The Network, informally known as the Chief Economistsโ Network, is a 30-year-old platform for high-level macroeconomic dialogue among central banks, finance ministries, global policymakers, and academics. Biannual meetings focus on global and regional economic developments and thematic policy discussions.
The consultant will act as assistant coordinator for both operations, working under the supervision of the respective team leaders. Approximately 75% of their time will be dedicated to the climate change initiative and 25% to the Chief Economistโs Network, supporting coordination, planning, research, and stakeholder engagement.
What youโll do
1. Central Bank Adaptation to Climate Change Initiative

Organize policy dialogues, workshops, and trainings with central banks, including agendas, speakers, and logistics.

Identify training needs, draft TORs, and support instructor hiring and program design.

Assist with the operation planning activities, budgeting, and overall management.

Manage and share datasets; ensure data is cleaned, standardized, and regularly updated.

Draft key documents (e.g., plans, reports, summaries, minutes).

Upload deliverables to IDB platforms and support regular meetings.

Conduct research under coordinator guidance.
2. Network of Central Banks and Finance Ministries

Provide technical and logistical support for the April and October meetings, in close coordination with the Team Leader and RES event coordinator.

Support agenda design, outreach to participants, and preparation of invitations and communications.

Maintain and regularly update the networkโs database and contact lists to ensure accurate records of members and invites.
- Draft technical summaries and minutes following network meetings; compile evaluations and identify areas for improvement.
- Propose and implement new initiatives that foster continued engagement between formal meetings, including regular updates and information-sharing among members.
- Contribute to the preparation of the Networkโs annual reports and other relevant outputs.
What you'll need
- Education: A bachelor's degree in project management, Public Policy, Economics, Finance, or a related field is required. A Masterโs degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of two and less than five years of progressively responsible experience in organizing, planning, and managing various elements of projects is required. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of economics, finance, or banking. Knowledge of climate policies and climate-related data is a plus. Previous experience with international organizations or government institutions is considered an asset. Strong managerial skills and the ability to work independently are essential.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required.
