Mission and objectivesUNFPA works in more than 150 countries and territories that are home to the vast majority of the world's people. Its mission: to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled
ContextA census collects data on many topics. Approximately 31 SDG indicators can either be fully or partially measured through the census. Many countries just release tables from their census, but there is scope to analyse the data to produce thematic reports which go into much more detail. UNFPA aims to support governments to maximise the number and scope of the thematic reports that they produce so as to increase the utility of the census data for evidence based planning and programming. UNFPA proposes to develop a thematic report template for each topic to facilitate this.
Task DescriptionUNFPA is looking for 6 experienced Online Volunteers. Under the supervision of the UNFPA Programme Specialist: Censuses and Surveys, each volunteer will review a set of census thematic reports (shared in Google drive) and fill out a Google Form (developed and shared by UNFPA) to collect data that can be used for report templates. The Google Form will collect data in a standardised way on the following elements: generic content; topic specific content; gender and social inclusion; geographical disaggregation; data disaggregation; statistical complexity (descriptive to advanced); SDGs measured; International statistical standards followed; geospatial methods applied; derived index inclusion; use of population projections etc. The google sheet will include information to guide standardisation of responses. Most responses will be categorical with some open ended responses to capture unique elements.
