About this position
The Agriculture and Rural Development Division (PTI/ARD), within the Productivity, Trade, and Innovation Sector (PTI), leads the design and implementation of operations and policy dialogue in areas such as sustainable and resilient rural development, agri-food systems, agriculture, land and soil management, forestry, and food security.
In Brazil, the PTI/ARD portfolio includes operations at various stagesโdesign, execution, and closure. The team also plays a key role in advancing policy dialogue and fostering collaboration with federal and state governments on agriculture and rural development.
Given the complexity and scope of the portfolio, consistent and proactive monitoring is essential to ensure the timely and effective preparation and implementation of planned activities. To support this work, PTI/ARD is seeking a Senior Consultant in Agriculture and Rural Development to provide technical and operational support for portfolio management. The consultant will contribute to the execution of ongoing operations, the identification of new opportunities, and the detailed follow-up required to maintain high performance and impact.
What youโll do
The consultant will support the PTI/ARD team in: (1) Portfolio execution: assist in project supervision, planning, and fiduciary tasks; provide technical input, identify risks, draft documents, and support missions and PEC consultants. (2) Evaluation: support the definition of indicators and methodologies, monitor results, and contribute to impact reports (e.g., PMR, PCR). (3) Operations design: assist in preparing new loan and TC operations. (4) Policy dialogue: contribute to sectoral dialogue, identify financing opportunities, and help produce knowledge products. (5) Internal coordination: collaborate with other Bank teams, support portfolio management, and assist with ARD communications. (6) Other tasks: carry out responsibilities assigned by the Team Leader related to this contract.
What you'll need
- Education: Masterโs degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in agriculture, environment, rural development or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
- Experience: At least 15 years of progressive experience in agriculture, environment and/or rural development. Proven experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of development projects in these fields
- Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.

- You are either a citizen of Brazil or a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Brazilโข Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
