About this position
We are looking for a highly motivated professional with advanced technical knowledge and experience in budget planning, monitoring, analysis, and evaluation as well as effective leadership, collaboration and communication skills, to join our Budget and Corporate Procurement Division.
You will work in the Budget and Corporate Procurement Division (BGT) within our Budget and Administrative Services Department (BDA), which oversees the Bankโs Administrative and Capital Budgets activities. BGT is tasked with preparing budget-related documents, ensuring consistency and alignment with the Bank's strategic goals and priorities, as well as the guidelines received from Management and the Board of Executive Directors. BGT also advises on maximizing cost efficiencies; provides technical advice and supports organizational units in planning and monitoring the execution of their budget; manages the Bank's budget systems; and provides guidance and training to the end-user community on budget matters.
What youโll do
- Lead the production and continuous enhancements of budget documents and reports for Management and the Board of Directors, ensuring alignment with the Bankโs business plan and long-term financial projections through effective collaboration across IDB Group teams. Effectively present these documents and reports to key stakeholders.
- Drive or implement initiatives to enhance the budget process, while providing ongoing managerial insights to support decision-making. Cultivate a solutions-oriented approach while leveraging negotiation skills to achieve consensus with key stakeholders in the Bank.
- Lead or implement budget-related transformations, modeling, analyses, studies, or activities, requiring strategic understanding of the business.
- Provide strategic technical advice to clients, enabling optimal resource utilization through effective planning, execution, and alignment with the Bankโs strategic priorities. Foster trust and strengthen client relationships through tailored and value-added support.
- Offer expert guidance and training to clients on leveraging budgetary and financial tools, ensuring seamless coordination and transactional support across all budget phases (formulation, execution, and evaluation).
- Lead or contribute to the design, development and implementation of system enhancements, reporting or digital tools that support budget activities, while leveraging interpersonal skills to drive effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Represent the Division while leading or contributing to the development, implementation, and rollout of new or revised budgetary tools, methodologies, and procedures, and while contributing to strategic initiatives led by other areas of the Bank.
- Guide, coach and mentor junior staff to develop technical expertise; may provide supervision to others.
What you'll need
Education: You hold a masterโs degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
Experience: You have at least five years of relevant experience in budget planning and monitoring, accounting, finance, auditing, or economics, with a special focus on writing, producing and presenting strategic documents and reports to diverse audiences, leveraging qualitative and quantitative evidence to support insights; leading transformational projects and initiatives across organizational boundaries and disciplines; and offering expert strategic guidance to clients on budget-related matters. Experience in a multilateral or bilateral development organization is a plus.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
Systems: You have strong experience in MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI desirable) and budget-related systems (SAP, Hyperion).

Requirements
Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

Type of contract and duration
International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
