The interns will work under the supervision of the Head of Mexico, Cuba and Central America Subregional Office Responsibilities Assist in the definition and implementation of the Office for Mexico, Cuba and Central America, with emphasis in activities and outputs in Mexico and Central America (countries of the SICA Region: Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panamรก and Dominican Republic) such as: โ€ข Development of urban planning and design diagnosis, policies, strategies, plans and projects to support municipalities in Mexico and central governments in the countries of the SICA Region. โ€ข Support the Office in the development of concrete urban planning and design projects, urban plans, participatory workshops, trainings, charrettes and different tools to promote urban planning and design. โ€ข Support the development of concept notes and project proposals in the areas of urban planning and design, project bankability, climate change, urban resilience and urban management and innovation and management. โ€ข Assist in the development of information materials, and presentations through identification and review of relevant publications and documents, drafting and commenting on documents, and assisting in producing information materials. โ€ข Conduct research and produce actionable outputs in urban planning and design, public space design, urban regeneration, urban innovation in planning and mobility, climate change and housing according to professional experience. โ€ข Follow up and support management issues with national and local counterparts in Mexico and the countries of the SICA Region. โ€ข Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), b. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), c. Have graduated with Bachelor's degree, Masters, PhD or equivalent. Be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes a willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Preferred areas of study: Currently pursuing or attained advanced degree in Urban Planning, Urban Studies, Urban Economy, Urban legislation, Environmental studies, Business Administration, Architecture, GIS, Geography. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Masterโ€™s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelorโ€™s, Masterโ€™s or Ph.D. Programme.
