The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (https://www.edqm.eu) is a leading organisation that protects public health by enabling the development, supporting the implementation and monitoring the application of quality standards for safe medicines and their safe use. For medicines, the European Pharmacopoeia’s quality standards are legally binding in 38 European member States and used in over 100 countries worldwide. Your role As a Web Applications Developer – Python you will:  support business needs triggered by change or enhancement requests by providing development, programming and implementation expertise for web based applications using Python, including: - translating technical specifications and requirements into software; - writing clean and maintainable code, debugging code and troubleshooting problems, proactively refactoring and code-reuse; - undertaking rigorous and controlled testing of developments; - ensuring quality control prior to (and after) the release of new functionalities and other deliverables;

 collaborate with internal clients and developers from sub-contracted companies involved in definition of functional requirements;  assist in the preparation of transition plans and follows documentation related to applications’ lifecycle. What we are looking for As a minimum, you must:  have a higher education diploma in IT, Computer Science or Information Systems;  have at least 3 years of professional experience in software development including solid and extensive experience using Python and its ecosystem;  have a very good knowledge of one of the Council of Europe’s official languages (English or French) and knowledge of the other;  be a citizen of one of the 47 Member States of the Council of Europe;  be under 65 years of age at the closing date of this vacancy notice. Demonstrate to us that you have the following competencies:  Professional and technical expertise: - experience working in a Linux/Unix development environment; experience with Web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, jQuery and CSS; experience with design principles (patterns, cohesion/coupling); - ability to develop, test and implement new applications and changes to existing applications; demonstrated understanding of relational databases and SQL concepts; - knowledge of object oriented programming concepts and application design and the ability to apply them to projects built on other development platforms.  Planning and work organisation  Learning and development  Analysis and problem solving  Service orientation  Teamwork and co-operation  Relationship building
