Result of ServiceThe consultant will work on support with UNEP FIโs Secretariat to achieve UNEP FIโs mission to accelerate the development of financial institutions that integrate sustainability and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The consultant will focus specifically on Nature activities in the region, and function as the liasion between the Nature Team and the Regional Team. Therefore, for the specific work on Nature, the consultant will be reporting to the Nature Team. The outcomes of the services will be to strengthen the UNEP FI implementation support for the industry frameworks, helping the banking and insurance industries to integrate sustainability into products and services. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is the strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 500 banks, insurers, and investors. For over 32 years UNEP FI has been shaping and driving the international sustainable finance agenda, setting global standards, and growing a global network of leading financial institutions. Through its work-streams delivering resources to advance sustainable finance and regional activities, peer learning, training and research, UNEP FI carries out its mission to help the financial industry align with and contribute to the Sustainable. UNEP FI requires a consultant to support the Regional Lead on capacity building activities in the Asia-Pacific Region, and to engage with financial institutions in India and other countries in the region to support on outreach and stakeholder engagement. Specific Tasks and Responsibilities: The Consultant will carry out the following project tasks for UNEP FI. โข Support in the development and implementation work plan for the region โข Engage with financial institutions in India and other countries in the region to support on outreach and stakeholder engagement โข Assist in updating and implementing the work plan and capacity building activities and contribute to the regional work programme, aligned with UNEP FIโs global work programme. โข Support financial institutions on integrating Nature in their risk assessments and businesses opportunities. โข Facilitate relationships with UNEP FI members and increase banking and insurance membership โข Assist with regular communications with UNEP FIโs members via e-mails, conference calls, and in-person meetings; update the APAC regional section on UNEP FIโs website. โข Support adoption and implementation of the Principles for Responsible Banking and Principles for Sustainable Insurance in APAC through peer exchanges and knowledge sharing Outputs and Deliverables: โข Delivery of capacity-building events for financial institutions . โข Support the delivery of regional capacity-building activities. โข Support the expansion of PRB and PSI membership in the APAC Region The consultant shall be under the overall supervision of the Head of UNEP FI and will be reporting directly to the Governance and Membership Team Lead. The consultant will work closely with the APAC UNEP FI Regional Lead. Qualifications/special skillsEducation: A masterโs degree in sustainability or environment, finance, banking, economics, education, professional training and development, communications, international studies, project management, business administration or related fields is required. A bachelorโs degree may be accepted in lieu of a masterโs degree, provided the candidate has 5 years of experience. Professional Experience: At least three (3) yearsโ experience within national, international organisations, NGOโs or private sector is required. Experience working with banks and /or financial institutions in India is required. The candidate should have successfully coordinated complex and, ideally, multi-stakeholder-based projects. Experience working in global contexts or with international organizations is an advantage. LanguagesLanguages: English is the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset. Additional InformationSkills & Knowledge: Knowledge and experience of working on sustainable finance; proven expertise in stakeholder engagement and coordination, proven skills in project and relationship management; ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a diplomatic, organised and timely manner; excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, ability to be proactive and work independently.
