About us

An exciting opportunity has arisen to use your financial systems skills to help improve the lives of people in some of the world’s poorest communities

Christian Aid believes in life before death, working for and with people of all faiths and none. Founded in 1945, Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in Britain and Ireland mandated to work on relief, development and advocacy for poverty eradication. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, of freedom and hope, of power over their own lives. Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty – and believes that this vision can become a reality.

A complex international organisation, we have an income in excess of £100m and work in 37 countries, supporting poor and marginalised people to lift themselves out of poverty. We do this by tackling both the causes and the symptoms of poverty so that everyone can achieve equality, dignity and freedom.

We are now seeking to appoint to the post of Systems Officer, reporting to our Financial Controller and supporting the wider finance team in the efficient and effective use of the suite of Christian Aid financial systems.

About the role

Working with IT and external suppliers, this important role is responsible for administering access to and maintenance of the financial systems and software of Christian Aid. You will provide support and training to users across all systems, including SUN, QA, Proactis, Adaptive, report writing and various banking systems and contribute to projects designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial systems and software. You will act as the division’s interface with the IT teams, taking responsibility for ensuring that user issues are satisfactorily resolved

About you

You will have experience of working in a financial environment, with a strong understanding of accounting, reconciliations, foreign currencies and restricted funds. You will be IT literate, with advanced knowledge and experience of working with Sun, QA and Proactis (Superuser/administrator) in a complex organisation and bring with you project management skills to effectively deliver small scale systems & training projects. You will enjoy problem-solving and work with good attention to detail. Finally and most importantly, you will have good communication skills to provide technical training in simple terms and a strong customer service ethos with a commitment to resolving issues.
