Organizational Setting

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil โ Programme.
Technical Focus
The incumbent will prepare technical documents to support the implementation and improvement of the Bioinputs Strategy for Family Farming, which aims to support and encourage the use and production of bioinputs in rural, urban and peri-urban family farming.
Tasks and Responsibilities
โข ย ย ย ย Develop a work plan aligned with the products;ย
โข ย ย ย ย Produce technical studies and data surveys (according to the specifications of the products described below) that assist the Secretariat of Supply, Cooperativism and Food Sovereignty (SEAB) in the process of implementing, monitoring, evaluating and improving the Bioinput Strategy for Family Farming of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA);ย
โข ย ย ย ย Carry out bibliographic surveys, research and consultations necessary for the preparation of the products provided for in this Call for Expressions of Interest;ย
โข ย ย ย ย Conduct studies to prepare a detailed diagnosis of actions and programs related to the theme of Bioinputs in different agencies and entities of the Federal Government and State Governments;
โข ย ย ย ย Produce a proposal for communication material in accessible language, aimed at the Family Farming public, referring to the Bioinputs Law and related standards;ย
โข ย ย ย ย Conduct surveys and interviews to map and compile successful research and extension experiences in bioinputs with a focus on Family Farming;ย
โข ย ย ย ย Contribute to the construction of innovative solutions to the main demands of civil society related to the theme of bioinputs and agroecology in the context of family farming.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
Minimum Requirements ย
โข ย ย ย ย University degree in agricultural sciences, according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge
โข ย ย ย ย Minimum of 6 yearsโ experience in activities related to bioinputs and/or agroecology for the development of family farming
โข ย ย ย ย Working knowledge of English and Portuguese
โข ย ย ย ย National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit
