About this position
We are looking for a dedicated, experienced and innovative professional as Data Engineer Consultant or Senior Data Engineer Consultant. As Data Engineer Consultant, you will use your experience in data architecture, big data, and data analytics to maintain and develop the architecture of cloud-based data analysis pipelines, using cloud-based querying tools and knowledge of machine learning algorithms, and mathematical models for classification and prediction.
You will work with the Strategy Development Division (SDV) of the Office of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness (SPD). This team is responsible, among others, for:
Leading, coordinating, and monitoring the IDB Groupโs Institutional Strategy. Leading the implementation of the IDBโs Development Effectiveness Framework. Assessing the evaluability and development effectiveness of IDB operations. Monitoring the performance of the IDBโs portfolio. Designing and reviewing the IDBโs lending instruments. Leading project capacity-building related to development effectiveness. Conducting strategic, corporate, and operational research. Gathering, analyzing, and reporting data to recommend best practices or new courses of action to improve the IDBโs overall performance and transparency.What youโll do:
Develop and maintain new and existing data pipelines using Python and SQL scripts called through PyAthena. Participate in the preparation of data products, with a focus on providing standardized indicators from various data sources. This may include preparing data visualizations, dashboards, and other deliverables. Support the design and development of data repositories, documentation, and data processing.Deliverables and Payments Timeline:
Payments will be made upon presentation of invoices on the basis of the number of days worked at the time of delivery of the outputs outlined in these terms of reference.
What you'll need:
Education: Masterโs degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field. Experience: At least five years of relevant professional and academic experience and: Experience and advanced knowledge of statistical programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, or Stata, with a particular emphasis on Python scripting that involves invoking pyAthena and AWS CLI, as well as pushing down data to S3. High level of knowledge and experience in working in cloud computing environments (i.e. AWS, Azure or Google Cloud). Advanced experience working with cloud-based SQL (AWS Athena experience is highly desirable). Advanced experience developing cloud-based data architecture and analysis pipelines in cloud-based environments. Experience working with GitHub-based projects. Experience working in Linux environments, including a strong proficiency in bash scripting and expertise in installing R and Python libraries. The ideal candidate should have experience in creating Python environments and configuring Jupyter notebooks with different kernels. Previous experience in achieving cost optimization for Cloud-based services (Storage, Computing, Query services) in desirable. Experience with geo-partitioning systems such as H3 and geospatial calculations, is desirable. Experience with geo-information systems that can display data in H3, such as Kepler.Gl or other advanced visualization systems, is desirable. The candidate should have experience in troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues, creating incident cases, and working with other technical teams to follow up on issues until they are fully resolved. Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required.Key skills:
