About this role

The Senior Financial Analyst implements finance, accounting and reporting activities, and assists in the day-to-day finance operations of Access now鈥檚 global budget of approximately $10 million. The Senior Financial Analyst supports the key objectives of Access Now by ensuring that the Organization has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation, and leads for exceptional audit results.

The Senior Financial Analyst works closely with the global Finance Team, program leaders and Team Members, to educate on finance and accounting procedures, and to explore how the Finance Team can support program operations. The Senior Financial Analyst reports through the Controller.

What you will do

As Senior Financial Analyst you will drive and support activities that span our global finance functions, with varying duties specific to the financial operations of our Costa Rica, Europe, Tunisia, and/or US finance centers. Duties will include, and not be limited to:

路 Produce monthly, quarterly, yearly combined Financial Statement and Analysis

路 Assisting with budgeting and monthly close processes

路 Update and project cash flows, and review revenue recognition

路 Review internal controls and processes

路 Ensure compliance with financial guidelines, Organizational policies, and relevant legal regulations

路 Prepare audit schedules and provide support for audit activities

路 Review net assets and restricted cash analysis

路 Assist with grants finance

路 Recommend policy and process improvements

路 Partner with regional accountants across global regions to review local financial statements

路 Prepare and produce budget documents, and actual-to-budget analyses for division directors

路 Prepare financial statements and analysis for board meetings

路 Lead in research of financial strategies, and implementation of systems

路 Assist in global implementation of the annual RightsCon summit series

路 Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, education, and mindset you will bring

路 At least four years experience in financial planning, analysis, and modeling, with a strong working knowledge of financial strategies

路 Strong financial reporting experience, along with the ability to present financial information to a non-financial audience

路 Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP, Oracle, or related financial systems, with advanced Excel (pivot and Vlookup function) and Google Sheets expertise

路 Currency experience other than USD

路 Demonstrated budgeting, internal controls, and audit experience

路 Strong organizational and multitasking skills, detail-oriented, and to work well in a fast-paced environment

路 Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

路 Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

路 Fluency in English required; fluency in another language relevant to Access Now; e.g. Arabic, French, or Spanish is helpful

路 Appropriate education and work preparation for the role, with bachelor and/or master degree equivalent in finance, accounting, or a related field, preferred

The Details


This is a full-time position, aligned with our New York City or Washington, DC office presences. At this time most Access Now Team Members are working through hybrid office arrangements, combining remote at-home work with intermittent use of offices and/or co-working spaces. The successful candidate must possess the right to work in the location in which they will be based. We are unable to sponsor visas or relocations for this role.


Access Now offers competitive compensation in line with skills and experience, and benefits packages that align with our office localities. Initial placement within the salary range for this role is anticipated between $5,830 and $7,080 USD gross monthly - and will be determined by depth of experience and preparation.
