Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development, and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil societies. ACDI/VOCA has approximately 50 projects in 30 countries and total revenues of approximately $174 million.

We are seeking a D.C.-based Project Assistant who will be responsible for backstopping ACDI/VOCA projects, new business proposals, and technical initiatives. This is a great opportunity for recent graduates with their Bachelor’s degree, with one year of work experience and language skills, who are interested in economic development and working for a mission-driven organization.

Responsibilities

Primary activities include but are not limited to: drafting and editing scopes of work; supporting field staff mobilization and repatriation; reviewing and processing expense reports; making travel arrangements/processing visa requests; providing support in editing and formatting of project reports and documents; processing Powers of Attorney and other legal documentation; and, assisting with the procurement of goods and services.

In addition, this position will be responsible for assisting with proposal research, collecting documents, formatting CVs, assisting with reconnaissance trip logistics; serving as proposal coordinator; and performing other new business related tasks.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Agriculture, Finance, Economics or a related field, in addition to previous administrative work experience. Knowledge of USAID/USDA highly desired. Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Spanish and/or French is required. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to work successfully as part of a team, as well as independently is required. Ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail. Ability and willingness to travel internationally to developing countries. A sense of humor and a constructive, positive outlook are a plus.
