  • Produces analysis briefs and synthesis on data for development and policy management developments; 
  • Leads development of the Annual Work Plan for data for development and policy management; 
  • Designs technical activities, plans and leads their implementation technically ;
  • Coordinates with government counterparts to implement technical activities including, for example, drafting correspondence, identifying timelines, and designing concept notes, terms of references, approaches, methodologies, etc.
  • Monitors issues and risks related to project implementation, identifies mitigation measures, and implements agreed actions.
  • Drafts relevant sections of project reports, and provides inputs into audit and evaluation.
  • Provide technical advisory in assessment of capacity gaps of the relevant government departments in the areas of: producing and using data; evidence-based, integrated and inclusive planning/policy making; and integration, implementation, and monitoring of the SDGs.  
  • Provides day to day technical advice and on-the-job training with the aim of strengthening government capacities in the areas identified.
  • Provides technical inputs to other UNDP project teams and their direct counterparts and ensures evidence-based planning/policy making and integration of the SDGs are promoted through UNDP’s overall work.
  • Liaises with government counterparts and key stakeholders including development partners, academia/think tanks, civil society, I/NGOs, parliament, on a routine basis and establishes strategic relationships.
  • Provision of analytical insights and technical advice to the project team in relations with donors, counterparts and implementing partners, including on possible areas of cooperation, identification of opportunities for initiation of new project activities, the project effort to mobilize resources.
  • Organizes key events such as consultation meetings and committee meetings. as needed for the implementation of UNDP’s technical assistance.
  • Identifies and documents lessons learned during the provision of technical assistance so that the know-how can remain within government institutions.
  • Leads monitoring efforts in the areas of data for development and policy-making to ensure achievement successful results of technical assistance
  • Keep abreast of good practices in other countries and identifies learning points for Myanmar.
  • Identifies opportunities for government counterparts to share their experience with other countries and facilitates South-South cooperation.

  • Master’s in Public Administration, Economics, Statistics, Economic Development, International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the areas of national or sub-national data collection/production, planning/policy making, and/or SDGs.
  • Proven record of analysis and reports on topics of data collection/production, planning/policy making, and/or SDGs.
  • Track record of delivering technical assistance on on topics of data collection/production, planning/policy making, and/or SDGs.
  • Experience in coordinating with wide range of stakeholders, including government, development partners, academia/think tank, civil society, I/NGO, parliament, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of project management principles and best practices.
  • Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
  • Project management experience, preferably within UNDP or another UN agency is an asset.
  • Ability to use statistical software is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
  • Language Requirements:
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in Myanmar.

Contract Duration: One year with possible extension
