Movement on the Ground is looking for a long term project coordinator on Lesvos, as of May for a minimum of 6 months.

Movement On The Ground is an NGO. We believe every Human has the right to a dignified and safe journey when forced to move from their home. We are here to disrupt the status quo in the NGO world by bringing innovative, sustainable solutions and positive impact to the refugee crisis. Therefore we are looking for people with an open-mind, out of the box thinking, team players that share our vision of disrupting the current way of handling the refugees.

The position is to coordinate our running projects on Lesvos. The responsibilities range from organisation and construction of camp infrastructure to people management. Other important roles include connecting the organisation to the camp residents and the local greek population. We involve the camp residents in all our activities, to engage and empower them.

Summary: Responsible for the programmes and activities taking place in the Kara Tepe


Scheduling: making sure there is a working schedule in place

Facilitating: ensuring the needs to each activity are arranged for

Stakeholder management: building and maintaining relationships with (possible) partners, such as Kara Tepe staff, other NGOs, and Greek locals/authorities in order to streamline and execute the program and activities

Project coordination: managing and organizing independent projects, such as Kara Tepe facilities; shop, kitchen, garden, ladies night. Initiating new activities and expanding the existing program(s).

People: responsible for the people who participate in the program

Required skills:

  • People management

  • Cross cultural management

  • Stress tolerance

  • Previous field experience (humanitarian aid)

Language skills needed:

  • English

  • Ideally Farsi or Arabic and/or French and Kurdish

Compensation covers:

  • Accommodation - shared

  • Transport - shared rental car

  • Consumption (limited budget)

  • Stipend (150 euro per month)
