OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The World Health Organization Sierra Leone Country Office (WCO) is responsible for providing technical advice to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS) in guiding overall efforts aimed at improving the health and well-being of the population. The WCO Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) cluster works closely with the MOHS to ensure development and implementation of robust national health plans aimed at increasing coverage of needed health services. The cluster also works to increase technical and institutional capacities, knowledge and information for health systems and services strengthening and related policy dialogue.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide technical support to the Ministry of Health and relevant stakeholdersin the development and implementation of health systems strengthening policies, strategies and plans towards attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Sierra Leone.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under the leadership and guidance of the HSS Coordinator Sierra Leone, and in close consultation with HSS clusters in the WHO Regional Office for Africa and Headquarters, the incumbent will undertake the following:
Essential: University degree in Medicine, Public Health, Social Sciences or related field
Desirable: Master’s degree in Public Health or related field
Essential:At least two years of working experience in health systems development including health policy, planning, implementing and monitoring.Experience working with national health authorities and with multiple high-level stakeholders
Desirable: Relevant experience in WHO, UN or other international organizations

Use of Language Skills
Essential: Excellent knowledge of English. Other languages relevant to the local context would be an asset.
WHO offers staff in the National Professional Officer category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at SLL 125,506,000 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
