Position Summary

RED NOSES Austria (RNA) is an artistic and humanitarian organization engaging with different vulnerable groups (children in hospitals, children with disabilities, elderly people and refugees) through the art of clowning. RNA is one of ten partner organizations of RED NOSES International (RNI), one of the largest healthcare clowning organizations in the world. RNI is committed to developing innovative methods of evaluating the impact of its artistic interventions, and to that end has recently finalized an organizational Theory of Change. With this basis in place, RNA is now focused on expanding and deepening its Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities throughout the organization.

The RNA Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Coordinator will develop and lead the MEL activities of RNA, including data collection and analysis, knowledge sharing, and internal capacity building. These activities will serve to increase the evidence related to the impact of RNA’s activities, as well as determine the success and efficiency of internal operations.

Areas of Responsibility

EVIDENCE GENERATING

  • Generate evidence for the organizational Theory of Change, including internal and external evaluations, interviews, and surveys
  • Work with the communications and fundraising departments to provide them with evidence-based information on impact and reach of RNA activities
  • Assist all departments in RNA in the development of tools and processes that enable organisational learning about internal operations
  • Implement strategies to improve the RNA monitoring system, including clown reports, feedback discussions, and beneficiary counting
  • Develop a research network and facilitate the initiation of scientific studies of the impact of RNA

KNOWLEDGE SHARING

  • Analyse data and communicate learnings on a regular basis, and develop strategies to maximize the uptake of lessons learned
  • Produce reports suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Facilitate presentations, workshops, and other innovative knowledge-sharing initiatives

INTERNAL CAPACITY BUILDING

  • Support the process of spreading awareness of the Theory of Change throughout the RNI group
  • Lead capacity-building activities in RNA on how to complete reports and how to conduct evaluations, interviews, and surveys

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social science or related field
  • Proven technical and relevant experience in Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for humanitarian, development, artistic, or cultural programmes
  • Sound understanding of research methodology (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with high standards of quality and the courage to implement innovative ideas
  • A committed and enthusiastic, proactive team player
  • Experience in conducting research in relevant fields (medical, artistic/cultural) an advantage
  • Experience conducting research with children an advantage
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding an advantage
  • Fluent written and spoken German and English required, further languages an advantage

Position Details

  • Full-time position
  • Reports to the RNA Managing Director and RNI Research and Evaluation Manager
  • Minimum gross salary is EUR 2,700 per month, negotiation is possible depending on experience and qualifications
  • Start date: January 2020
