Work LocationITC Headquarters (Geneva) Expected duration12.01.26 - 11.07.26 Duties and ResponsibilitiesClimate change poses an existential threat to human development and ecological survival. A green transition is urgently required to meet this challenge. Trade and trade policy has a role to play in this transition. The Committee on Trade and Environment (CTE) and the Trade and Environment Structured Sustainability Discussions (TESSD) at the World Trade Organization (WTO) are open to the entire WTO membership. These mechanisms contribute to identifying and understanding the relationship between trade, environment that also contributes to sustainable development. THE PROJECT This project aims to increase engagement of developing countries in the CTE and TESSD on green transition issues. Working with seven countries, it will facilitate the preparation of trade strategies on the green transition and climate resilience and provide capacity building support to build the competitiveness of small businesses in the export of green goods and services. Seven countries have been selected to participate in this project. These are the Philippines and Viet Nam (Asia), Mauritius, Kenya and Senegal (Africa) and Ecuador and the Dominican Republic (Latin America and the Caribbean). ITC has prepared knowledge products to increase understanding about the linkages between trade and climate policy including an online course and trade and climate change scoping papers. The course and papers raise awareness of policy makers in developing countries on the issues and thus capacity to engage in multilateral process on trade and environment, for example trade negotiations that cover environment. A consultant is required to roll out the course and continue the development of the scoping papers. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direct supervision of the Senior Adviser, Trade and Environment, the Consultant will undertake the following: โข Organize and assist in the delivery of a series of webinars and in person trainings building on the course, complemented by engagement of experts to provide capacity building to government and private sector on trade and environment issues โข Organize, monitor and report on events linked to trade and environment topics โข Design communications strategies and materials for the project and related events โข Carry out ad hoc research on trade and environment issues โข Support proposal writing โข Maintain liaison with stakeholders in countries where ITC is implementing technical cooperation projects Copyright Clause: The consultant has to ensure that she has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form.
