This position is located in the Department of Operational Support (DOS), Office of Support Operations (OSO), Office of the Assistant Secretary-General (OASG).
The Department of Operational Support (DOS) was established to provide end-to-end operational support advisory services and other solutions to operating entities across the Secretariat, including other departments, offices-away-from headquarters, field missions, and regional commissions. OSO provides operational support to more than 100 UN Secretariat entities globally and the OASG oversees three pillars covering Human Resources Services, Heath Management and Occupational Safety and Health, and Capacity Development and Operational Training.
The intern will report to the Special Assistant of the Assistant Secretary-General (ASG).
The internship is for three months with an opportunity for extension, depending on the needs of the Office.
The internship is unpaid and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours).
-Assist in data collection, business intelligence analysis, facilitation of meetings and brainstorming sessions, development of power point presentations, report;
-Support the preparation of high-level meetings, conferences and engagements;
-Assist in processing, highlighting and summarizing documents;
-Tracking and following up on correspondence, ensuring accuracy, completeness and that deadlines are met;
-Participate in meetings and draft minutes or meeting summaries and reports;
-Conduct research and contribute to the preparation of documents, summaries, talking points, briefing notes, speeches and remarks;
-Prepare research, analysis and policy options for improved operational support;
-Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Meets timeline for delivery of products or services to client.
-Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
a. be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent or higher);
b. be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
c. have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
-Be computer literate in standard software applications;
-Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
-Have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.Assessment
