Org. Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Programme Support and Management Services, Information Management and Technology Section, Entreprise and Infrastructure Unit and IT Service Desk Team. The incumbent reports directly to the Supervisor of the IT Service Desk Team. ResponsibilitiesWithin delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: - Acts as a focal point for the receipt and processing of user requests though the Service Desk ticketing system. Requests are received by e-mail, phone or walk-in clients. - Provides first level technical support and assistance to users for software and hardware. - Assists in logical and physical installation and migration of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) standard software and hardware including the transfer of data, installation of specialised software and personalisation of user computers. - Performs tasks related to scheduled service requests, including equipment replacement, equipment installation/de-installation, software installation, LAN connection, returns to stock, site surveys, etc. - Maintain and prepare the stock of laptops and keep the inventory databases up to date. - Escalates problems to the appropriate parties in accordance with established procedure; - Conducts research on new technologies as requested; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies. - Performs other related duties as required. CompetenciesPROFESSIONALISM : Knowledge of a broad range of hardware platforms and software, Active Directory and Microsoft Outlook. Ability to use a ticketing system to record and dispatch incoming user requests.. Shows pride in work and in achievements. Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter. Work ExperienceA minimum of Three (3) years of experience in IT Support is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 1 (one) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Out of the three (3) years, one (1) year in IT Support , preferably in the United Nations is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. French is desirable.
