This position contributes to the calling of the organization by managing the organization’s finance activities. The person in this position manages key financial and treasury functions and ensures that all resources provided to Medical Teams International are expended based on the highest standards of financial management and accountability and are used to advance the mission of the organization. Provides staff with the financial information needed to carry out their responsibilities.

- Manage global finance functions, including dotted line oversight of Field Office Finance leads, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other regulatory and advisory organizations, and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the not- for-profit arena.
- Oversee global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial and accounting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate donor and regulatory requirements.
- Lead in the development and communication of financial policies, procedures and control systems that enhance the organization’s successful achievement of strategic plans.
- Lead annual budget development process.
- Review and negotiate audit reports and audit findings.
- Review, approve, and manage Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate Agreement (NICRA) proposal.
- Responsible for financial set up of new offices, training, oversight/supervision, and closure of offices as needed.
- Establish and maintain stable cash flow management policies and procedures, develop cash flow forecasts, and ensure cash resources are available for daily and long-range financial plans.
- Manage all Treasury and Investment relationships and functions, to implement management systems that maximize investment yields, provide accurate and timely reporting, and improve daily money management.
- Collaborate with the Director, Logistics in the development and implementation of purchasing policies and procedures; oversee activities of the bidding process, informal quotations and proposals.
- Support compliance related to ethical and legal purchasing practices.
- Analyze current and future business operations and plans to determine financial effectiveness.
- Measure and interpret financial activities, compare performance against budgets, and prepare appropriate analyses of organization’s financial position.
- Prepare variance analyses and key ratio analyses for budget managers.
- Provide oversight and review of legal documents (contracts, agreements, memorandums of understanding), according to policy.
- Analyze insurance needs and set standards of practice to secure optimum coverage for the organization.
- Work cooperatively with broker to bid and award insurance products, negotiating to assure best price, coverage, and service for the organization.
- Communicate with all departments regarding insurance coverage and needs and provide claims assistance as required.
- Direct the overall maintenance and repair operations for MTI U.S. facilities to ensure assets are maintained properly and safety standards are adhered to.
- Develop long-term facilities repair and replacement strategies which properly fund short-term and long-term capital requirements.
- Create a positive work environment for the organization’s employees.
- Recruit, supervise, develop, and evaluate finance staff
- Meet regularly with direct reports.
- Manage timesheets and time off for direct reports.
- Conduct annual Performance Reviews.
- When appropriate, incorporate the use of volunteers in daily job functions.

EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or closely-related field.
- CPA License.
- Valid passport.
- Valid driver license.
- Ten years’ progressively responsible accounting or finance work; at least five years with international NGO organizations; preferably field-based.
- Experience overseeing US Government and/or UN Agency grant finances, compliance and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience in hiring, evaluating, and supervising finance staff.
